I'm trying to use this Usenet thingy and can't find myself a decent software for searching through all the posts and stuff. I tried NewsBin Pro and UseNext, but my God, they are really counter intuitive! Any reccomendations? By the way, what's the difference between newsgroups and usenet? |
UseNet & Newsgroups ....!

Download Grabit. The software is free but the bloke also does his own paid-for usenet service, to which I'm subscribed. Quite decent.
Usenet is the blanket term for Newsgroups so far as I can tell.
Enjoy

Grabit looks very nice, ta Retroid and Furbs for that clarification
Retroid, or anyone for that matter, can you reccomend any newsgroups to point to? -

Hey Dad! ;o)
I've been using grabit for a few days now. It does look better but it doesn't seem to have the lovely automated method for putting your files back together like usenext had

Registered 17 years agoI got a license for NewzBin pro (I like to give something back, so I buy a license for this software
)
But recently switched to the vastly superior NewsLeecher. Simply awesome. Snarf! Snarf! Snarf! Its the future!
I recommend this guide about NewsGroups for newbies
Also, get a Giganews subscription.
And I find the site www.newzbin.com to be useful... -

I was going to use it for films some time ago, but they're all DVD rips at 4.7GB on the groups, not very useful for someone with a DivX DVD player ;(
Well, how else would I have Winning Eleven 9 on PSP and PS2?
I also got hold of Batman Begins on Saturday. The quality is probably the same as retail. I cant see the compression you can so easily moan about with pirate copies.
Oh, and that 4.6gb video-only iso took 4Hrs to Download and rip to DVD.
Newsgroups piss on bit-torrent.
And If you've a PS2 made after Nov '03 - it will play DVD-R /RWs. Fuck the DIVx dvd!
[disclaimer: the above is entirely fictional]

I've been using Grabit for years - it's my favourite news reader by far (especially cos its free). The rebuild corrupt posts, you'll need to d/l the PAR2 files. You then use a program (can't remember the name of it) to rebuild the PARs. This fixes and repairs the RARs.
If you don't want to d/l whole groups worth of headers, try using NZB files. There are some sites that allow you to d/l them for free. The idea is you search for wehat you want on a usenet search engine, d/l the NZB files and double click on them.
Grabit will automatically read them, and add the files to the Batch window for download. -

So you didn't do a search for newsgroups with divx in the title?
Usenet is for internet experts only. -
