Hmmm, more keen on the LG. They have VRR and HDMI 2.1 support built in, appears the Panasonic doesn't.

After a fair bit of choice paralysis, I bought the Samsung UE55NU8000 last week.

Need to have a play around with the settings to get the right picture. There is an annoying bit of blurring when playing RDR2, even with 'game mode' on. Hopefully, AV forums can help with setting suggestions.

If you're playing on PS4 and have HDR turned on then turn it off. There were loads of reports of blurry graphics on PS4 with HDR turned on, which was supposed to have been patched but... Plus the HDR is faked from SDR anyway and you get a better image without it!

I get colour bleed in HDR only on my (base) PS4 on a LG B6, it's really weird.

Anybody know if there's a way to force nearest neighbour scaling?

Gonna be buying a new TV this weekend / early next week. Most likely a b8 or c8.

Anybody got tips for wall mounts? It needs to extend out a bit as it will attach inside an alcove that I think is too small for the 55inch size, so I want the TV to sit level with the rest of the wall.

You canít go far with Vogels.

Maybe one of these : https://www.vogels.com/en/c/thin-546-extrathin-full-motion-tv-wall-mount-for-oled-tvs

@Buffalo_Bertie I have a PS4 pro and the exact same TV as you. It's been a couple of months since I last played RDR2, but it suffered horribly from blurring, both HDR on or off. It's an issue with the game, not the TV.
The TV itself needs very little calibration when in game mode. Just make sure you turn the sharpness all the way down to 0

Ooops, sorry, didn't realise, their "normal" ones for mounting on a flat wall are much more reasonable.

@richyroo Ah, OK. Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking of upgrading to a PS4 pro soon, can you really tell the difference?

@Buffalo_Bertie I would say the 4k is nice, everything is sharper and there are less jaggies with the pro.

The HDR when done well is also quite nice. It's not the best HDR implementation on this TV (TV is edge lit so always going to be compromised) but it can still make a difference. One of the most impressive for HDR I have played is AC:odyssey. Nights are darker, light sources are brighter and everything just looks great.

I would say it's worth the upgrade to the pro, just maybe don't expect your mind to be blown, keep your expectations in check.

I really really want a 65Ē C8. I pretty much had to stop myself knocking one out in John Lewis it was so sexy.

After living with that very TV for a few months, I can only recommend it. Itís fucking glorious.
    Beats my Plasma by miles.

It's an amazing TV, hopefully lasts longer than the piece of shit Sony that I had before it.

I've had the 65B8 for the last 6 weeks and live it. I downsized from an old Epson 1080p 5300 pj (110").

Miss the size wow factor for movies but for gaming, normal viewing and the massive leap in picture quality (inky blacks!!) it was a big leap forward.

Crackdown3 on X in HDR is a revelation.

@richyroo Ubisoft seem to be streets ahead when it comes to implementing HDR. The Division 2 also looks beautiful as did Far Cry 5.

@Blackmarsh63 I would agree. What's more impressive is that I played AC Odyssey on my pc. Normally HDR on pc is either terrible or not supported. Ubisoft PC ports recently have been really good

Utter disaster - the alcove for the TV in my new flat is too small for a 55 inch TV so I couldn't get an OLED.

Just installed a 2019 Samsung 49inch, the Q70R. I was gonna get the 2018 Sony x900F, but the new Samsung has FALD too (and I can confirm that blooming is much better!), on top of VRR etc. And its lag is only something like 13 ms, which will do me fine for gaming.

I had it mounted on the wall, a first for me, and I am sold. It looks really good, and I can swivel it out easily for access to cables. I also mounted a Sonos Beam to the mount so the soundbar follows the screen!

Anyway, OLED will have to wait until we find and buy our own house :(

So not really a disaster at all you drama queen, haha.
Sounds like a good set up. I consider myself pretty TV tech savvy but half of what you said is completely over my head so obvs Iím getting old.

    LG 43UK6400PLF

    https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/all-tvs/lg-43uk6400plf.html

Anyone have any experience with this? It's for the living room, switch and Wii u connected. Not looking for the bells and whistles at that price but just want good picture for TV/movies and no judder when gaming.

It's 50hz but the only major gaming will be mario odyssey (which I think is 60fps) for the kids. Odyssey's not gonna be laggy is it.

LG B8 can be had for a grand over at Richer Sounds...

Had a bit of a crisotunity this week. My 50" Sony committed suicide on its third anniversary, locking itself into a constant reboot cycle, hitting the bravia logo, rebooting, hitting the logo, rebooting...

Got nowhere with Sony (which is incredibly annoying as I'm sure it's been caused by an update) and a local place wanted 75 quid too look at it with a potential 250 for a new main board. Fuck that.

So I went into richer sounds, intending to replace more or less like for like, 4k, not Sony, maybe a bit bigger, something 5-600 quid.

Ended up walking out with this:

    It's absolutely boner inducing.

Depends on your definition of 'good'...

I got a few quid off with a VIP club voucher but 1270 is still a lot of brass for something you weren't expecting to buy

However they do interest free on anything over a grand and, using the power of man maths, I figured that 10% down and 55 quid a month is better than the 650 in one hit for the Samsung I was looking at.

Because 55 quid is basically free, right?
