Looking for a kids bedroom TV for gaming etc. Any good? Not expecting much but for that purpose might be ok? -

Registered 13 years agoI think more than anything you'd need to check how it handles motion / what sort of input lag it has... but for £200 if it's shit you could just use it as a fancy photo screensaver device. -

Registered 18 years agoHehe- yeah the motion might be the sticking point. Box mentions 'motion 400' but different manufacturers twaddle is giving me a headache. Seems to be one of those box shifters models with no reviews and hard to know if panel appears elsewhere... -

I've lost my bottle and decided to rearrange the delivery of the B9 to my home address this Friday instead (as I'll be in all afternoon). I still think the Swifty would have done me proud though
I also drive a Suzuki Swift and I got two 55" OLEDs in mine, but just for my reference could you please film your own endeavor so I can compare notes -

Registered 18 years agoI went on a run around Nottingham yesterday (RS, Currys etc) and the car packing was worse than IKEA. Laid flat, forced in at angles, unpacking in the car park.... incredible how people get so desperate to get the £1000+ TV home they potentially fuck it up compared to £25 delivery..... -

Registered 8 years agoWith 4K displays, pixels are so small I don't know if you can see dead/stuck pixels. -

Registered 17 years agoYou definitely want to do some uniformity checking. When I got my Samsung it got damaged in transit or something so there was a really dim spot on the edge so I had it replaced as it seemed like one of the LED backlights had failed.
Dead pixels tend to crop up in groups too, and once you’ve seen them once you’ll never be able to fully put them out of your mind so best to get hunting now when you still have a chance to return it.

Registered 17 years agoThere are various tests you can do to check for any bleeding at the edge etc but I think unless it's something you notice when watching stuff, I wouldn't bother. It's a minefield. If you want to get stuck in though, check out the C9 owners thread at AV Forums - https://www.avforums.com/threads/lg-oled-c9-owners-and-discussion-thread.2227517/ -

Registered 12 years agoModern test patterns are a good way to make you notice a hardware fault that you hadn't seen before, and now can't unsee, and aren't considered a manufacturing defect so there's nothing you can do about it -

Registered 12 years agoWas about to cut my OLED losses and go for the 49-inch Samsung QLED, but then I read this:

Guess I'd better wait a year. -

You probably won't have to. New models are usually announced at CES in January and ship in spring.

Registered 18 years agoI guess the compression banding/macroblocking seen with some streamers might be highlighted on OLED. Last night's War of the Worlds looked shite on iPlayer. I know the b8s were more susceptible but the source quality is more significant. Seven Worlds looks fantastic but is streamed in UHD HLG. -

£320 for cyber-Monday.
I took a look at the space where the current TV sits, and I'm not sure that corner of the lounge would support anything bigger than a 50" screen -
I'd pretty much decided to buy a C9 after Christmas but that sounds like a pretty great TV for the price. Where you seeing it for that much? -
