Iíve got one, itís good but you have to manually turn Dolby Vision on for the films that use it, can be a bit annoying.

I doubt I'll be using it enough for that to become much of an annoyance (few times a year maybe), but cheers for the warning all the same.

Continuing previous discussion on the terrible state of TV cabinets and furniture in this country, I have found a company called Jali:

    https://www.jali.co.uk/

Go to cupboards. You can choose the precise measurements to the mm (height depth and width), how many shelves and their spacing, how many compartments, height and style of the skirting, style of doors, colour, handles (they all seemed shit but can easily get that elsewhere).

Might need to add some holes for cables.

The thing I priced up for me was £300 something.

What with Black Friday and all the sales, I think now is the time to jump in and get a nice 55" 4K set. Is it worth going all out for OLED nowadays, or will standard LED be good enough? The LG B9/C9 seem great, but I'd rather not spend more than around £800...

Spend the little bit extra and get the oled. If you don't have the extra then wait until you do. Just get the oled.

Hmm, I see Currys have the LG B9 for just £999 with a discount code. That can't be beat, right?

The Samsung QLEDs look good, but the upper range ones are more expensive than the B9.

Be aware if youíre not QLED is not OLED. In fact QLED isnít really QLED yet. Itís just LCD dolled up a bit.

Yeah, I'm aware - it's basically the same as the LCD vs. Plasma argument years ago. Apparently Samsung's QLEDs have great black levels, but still not quite the same as inky blackness on the OLEDs. They do get much brighter though, and there's no need to worry about burn-in issues.

I dunno. Itís not just about blacks and burn in. Back in the day LCDs were sharper whereas plasmas has better colours and richness and generally looked a bit more natural.

But in my admittedly not particularly scientific wandering around John Lewis OLEDs just look better in every way.

Yeah, the LG OLEDs are hard to beat.

Sammy LEDs are very good, it just depends what *you* want. If youíre worried about burn-in or want a brighter set, do that. It doesnít really matter what anyone says if the other option gives you better peace of mind or fits your needs better.

    Either are top choices.

The flagship QLEDs are finally a compelling option against LG OLEDs depending on what you're after. IF you're really going to be pumping a ton of good quality HDR content out, they offer the most impactful brightness with good contrast and impressive colour to boot. But they're often too expensive and you really do need the top of the line options (i.e. Q90R) for that to be the case.

Interested to see what CES brings as Micro LED really may offer the best IQ with fewer compromises.

Pretty abhorrent paying that much for a TV while there are people struggling to feed their kids this winter.
