@fontgeeksogood The wife suddenly decided we should have a garden cinema. I am 99% settled on this projector based on its brightness, 4k, and versatility. EPSON TW7000. (Called something different in NA I think) If I was installing a permanent setup I would go higher end probably, but this will be used in garden and in living room for movie night (with a portable pull-up screen, probably 2m wide). With projectors you do have to match to the space tho as many dont have much shift or zoom. |

Registered 7 years agoI went with a TW7100, as the 7000 was sold out and the upgrade adds in a speaker and much higher contrast in dark environments (i was mostly impatient...)
With a 92 inch portable pull up screen by Elite Screens. I think it is the maximum I can go with the throw distance I have. It will be quite big at the distance we sit at, but for infrequent watching I wouldn't have minded going higher for imax like experience

Registered 18 years agoC9 users. What settings have you got for the football? I can't find one that minimises the judder. -
@Dougs Mines on "standard" with ALL the motion gubbins turned off. No judder at all. -

Registered 18 years agoHmm. I use ISF bright as a matter of course, and had trumotion etc off. But Def some judder so have been having a play. I am of course streaming from Nowtv (albeit in 1080p) which might also be a factor. -
@Dougs Unless it has changed recently ,Now Tv streams at 25fps which may cause issues. Seem to remember someone on here recommending putting de judder on 1 for judder on movies. It may make a difference for low framerate stuff. -

Registered 18 years agoTa. Am currently trying Trumotion Clear, which is ok surprisingly. -
@Dougs I've just tried that on the SKY football and it does actually seem a lot smoother. I've always been lead to believe that any motion setting should be turned off. -

Registered 20 years agoI've tried trumotion on my B8 with NowTV and it seemed to lose the ball - think the interpolation struggles and the ball looks transparent. -

Yeah, same here. Always the first thing I do. But it was bothering me so was just trying to improve things a bit.

Registered 15 years agoI watched that guy who does HDTVTests on YouTube. He seemed to think that setting the motion control to 1 on LG oleds helped. -

Registered 15 years agoYeah football is the one exception for motion smoothing stuff. -
@You-can-call-me-kal Its maybe an OLED thing. I tried the motion stuff on my lcd and its looks awful. -

Registered 18 years agoI watched the Arsenal game last night on the BT Sport App. Was absolutely fine, so suspect NOWTv was the culprit. -

Registered 16 years agoA good TV will show up imperfections in the source and you can’t get more imperfect than now TV. The on demand stuff isn’t the best but the live streams are absolute garbage and would look juddery on a crt.
They are compressed to within an inch of their lives which also crushes the sound. -

Registered 16 years agoYeah, I still get a day pass every now and again purely because of the stability. Even most illegal streams stream at higher quality but there is something to be said for not having to fart finding a stable one. -

Registered 7 years agoHad some occasional frame skipping when gaming on the OLED, changed the HDMI but was still seeing it.
Had a look online and it seems to be an issue on the newer LGs when ‘Live Plus’ is turned on. Turning this off in the additional settings seems to have sorted it. Thought I’d mention it here as it’s been doing my head in for ages and I had no idea what it was. -

Registered 17 years agoWonderful EG Hivemind. I'm after a couple of tv's:
1: "budget" 4k tv, min 55" size spending a max of £700. It will only ever be used for gaming, specifically Xbox 1X.
Is this Sony: Sony BRAVIA KD55XG70 55-inch LED 4K HDR Ultra HD Smart TV at £545 from Amazon up to the job. I assume it will have a "game" mode.
The tv is to replace a 10+ year old Samsung.
2: budget of £1200-1400 60"+ for tv and Xbox/Playstation. Any help with links would be great. I know a good few of you are well up on this sort of thing. I read EG's latest piece on them, which was good, but I like to read first hand experience.
Thank you for any and all help.

Registered 17 years agoI've never really got on with the more budget end of Sony Tvs - I find them slow and clunky and you don't get the benefit of sony style at that price either imo.
My mum has 2 Sony pretty new too. They aren't as easy to use the menus as my ultra-budget Samsung for example. Also have to wait a few minutes to get the internet stuff to enable.
Budget I would always gravitate to Samsung or LG -

Nice one, I will look at both brands. I have had a few Samsung's and always thought they are good tv's never had LG. -

Registered 12 years agoWait football is broadcast at 25fps? Would seem ideal to go 4k60 for that. There’s this 6 minute dolby atmos demo of Gemini Man up on youtube and that is 4k60 hdr. It looks really good but weird at the same time, but I would think sports would look great that way. -
Wasn't Gemini Man filmed at 120fps? Seems like it should be the poster child for the HDMI 2.1 TVs!
