Yeah I've let them know, the guy on the phone was surprised by the honesty but he has raised a case as they can't just take the money back apparently.

I've been rationing an episode of Seven Worlds on iPlayer for Sunday night viewing and I just have to say, it's enough to bring you to tears. It looks beautiful.

Crystal clear image, perfect blacks, great camera work. I don't know if it's the HLG format that the BBC uses, or just the quality of the 4K stream they use, but it's simply perfect. I really wish all 4K content looked this good.

Anyone using the Apple TV app on an LG C9? My wife got a free year of it so we figured we'd give it a blast. Tried watching Long Way Up and the picture just kept stopping (audio continued fine).

Have never had a problem with any other streaming app, and we're on FTTP so the connection is generally rock solid.

Use it quite a bit without any problem. No updates available for it? If not try reinstalling it.

Not that I can see. I guess I'll have to uninstall it.

@Buztafen sorry I’m a bit late. If you still need the info, the bottom screw holes are about 14.5cm from the bottom of the unit. They’re also about 57cm from the sides.

I secretly have my eye on the C1000 - the holographics are supposed to be out of this world.

Yes, I clocked that I'd done that too but couldn't be bothered to edit again.
Now you've made me type this and it's wasted more time than I would've spent.

@Dougs Yeah, I haggled with them..twice! Got them down to £1730, then Harry Garlicks said they’d do £1700 with delivery on Thursday and 5 years warranty.

Went back to Richer Sounds and to see if they’d do lower. Got them down to £1699. 😂.

Mr Richer made me pay £10 for the premium delivery on Tuesday though...the blighter.

Oh and they said not to mention this on Hotukdeals or any deals sites as it was a ‘Special one off price!’ 😃

I'm going to see if they'll take £1698, but they keep the box and manuals

A month with my 55 LG CX has been a journey and learning experience. In very, very brief bullet points:

    1) First day or two, wow, watching Dolby Vision is mind blowing.
    2) Buyers remorse with watching 1080p sources like Virgin TiVo. It’s also, urgh, a massive TV.
    3) Base PS4 looked worse than on 2015 Sony Bravia.
    4) Ooh Netflix is really good quality actually.
    5) upgrades to 4K Netflix. Even better!
    6) TV quality generally starts to suddenly look better with everything. What’s going on!
    7) experts in forums say after 100 hours this happens. It truly does, guys.
    8) Gets PS5; holy shit. Now I get it. Incredible.
    9) Love it. Way better than old TV now. It’s just now perfect on every source, somehow.
    10) Feels smaller now. Wish I’d got 65”.......

The ‘give it 100 hours’ thing really is a thing. So, just wanted to say, I love this damn TV.

@Worlds that’s a nicely balanced journey, youth I’m glad it ended with you enjoying the tv.

Out of interest, did you fiddle with the picture settings or use any guides when setting it up?

I’ve been out of the loop with TVs for about 12 years! My previous one (which the CX is replacing) is a Panasonic Plasma, and I generally used the THX Calibrated picture settings for everything because it looked so damn good.

A few days with my replacement CX. Absolutely beautiful for games, such black blacks! One question though, I watched my first non-game thing on it last night, the UHD Blu-Ray of The Dark Knight Rises on PS5. It looked beautiful and sharp, the IMAX scenes looked breathtaking, but the black levels were well short of expectations. It was really obvious in the non-IMAX scenes (ie those with black borders) that even the darkest areas of the picture were a lot less dark than HDR games get. Is this a result of the film, the disc transfer, the TV config (I’m still using out of the box settings) or the PS5’s playback capability? Or is live action HDR just not as dramatic as CGI?

@Buztafen I came from a Panny Plasma (42G20). Whilst a lot was to be said about black levels on the Panny, the OLED CX is much much an improvement. I have yet to play a UHD to the TV yet as I don't have a player yet (tossing up between a PS5 or dedicated) but UHD BBC and Netflix is quite a sight. Definately a worth-while upgrade. I haven't really fiddled with the PQ settings apart from remove the Eco stuff and stuff which filters the picture.

@Zomoniac Just wondering if the fact that the PS5 doesn't do Dolby Vision and plumps for HDR10 is the reason?

@MrWonderstuff possibly. I should do a comparison with the Series X. I tried doing some searching before as to which was better but couldn’t find any comparisons for blu-ray performance, just some articles saying the XSX was bad at it, so went for the PS5.
