    Simple question

I have a iriver ihp140 which is starting work less well (sounds getting a bit fuzzy for some reason and its jumping and crap moments). Also the startup time is dreadful and its not the easiest thing in the world to use.

I'm thinking about buying an ipod nano for use mainly at the gym.

Can anyone who has one comment on on the screen scratching issue or the battery life

    Cheers
    Monsta

ALso should i buy one, as the title says?

For gym use it sounds like a good choice. No hard drive skipping issues and still a good amount of space.

by a Creative Shatplayer! Apple suck!

PS - yes, but I would get a cheapo shuffle to compliment my now permanently attached to the hifi 3G iPod.

It looks nice and it's a good player but it scratches very very easily even when I've been very careful and used an IPOD wool sock.

Deem, you tend to exaggerate a bit defending your favourite toys.

IPOD or iPod, jesus, who gives an iShit.

And revolutionised? Pfff, what percentage these days is mp3 sales, it's still minimal. The music 'industry' hasn't had a huge impact from it yet. Mp3's existed way before it and weren't invented by Apple.

And mp3 players aren't sucha step up idea-wise from the minidisc.

It's a good product, we get it. Just relax, bro.

I've long been a Iriver's are better than Ipods type person but i'm starting to change my mind. When i'm using the digital out on my Iriver the sound quality is miles better than my mates ipod. That battery life is better than G1,2 and 3 ipods (its a lot tighter with the G4 ones).

But the easy off use thing is starting to win me over.

Is the scratching really as bad as all that?

Nothing so cool as strutting down the street with my iPOD™ by Apple© on listening to U2®.

that's SOLD and FIVE HUNDERED MILLION, just incase you didnt read it properly.

I don't care, the percentage is still minimal. They may have helped the beginning of a slow, slow revolution. Doubt it, though. Illegal mp3's have had a much larger industry impact than Apple have. Could that be 500 billion illegal songs downloaded? It wouldn't surprise me. :-)

    yawn

Ah, so that's why little Deemy is grumpy. Baby needs his sleepy-poo.

SOLD as in, people HAVE PAID FOR 500 MILLION SONGS, as in RECORD INDUSTRY MONEY as in VERY DIFFERENT TO ILLEGAL MP3 DOWNLOADS.

Yeah, I realise that. That still makes it a small percentage of overall purchased music in that time. And a small percentage of downloaded music in that time.

I am not saying the complete opposite from you, that Apple have meant nothing for the music industry. No, they definitely sped things up considerably. But exaggeration is an art.

don;t know why you two are arguing, you're closer in opinion than the "I'm on the apple/ipod knocking bandwagon" brigade

"revolutionise" may be a bit strong, but "sped up" downplays the apple effect far too much - can we agree on "major impact" "transformed" or "the significant factor" maybe :)

i own a gigabeat f20 and love and care for it like its my own mechanical baby. The UE (?) is great and the sound quality is tops - but its a hard disc player which comes with its own disadvantages.

is it true theres a nearly-almost, not quite yet, but on its way 20gb flash based player from someone???

i think i read it somewhere.
