Along with the 'Cog and Wheel Clocktower section' which, to be honest, I'm getting a little bored of. I know recent Castlevanias haven't really distunguished themselves from each other that much, but these sections are always exactly the same! And that's always the first time you find a time-stopping powerup! And the're always really hard. Until you level up a bit further and then they stop being hard. But are still annoying. |

Registered 17 years agoEh? Zephyr was piss on a plate. Time-stopping = totally fucking redundant.
Those Medusa Heads were a bit shite. But you can best them once you have black panther and hippogryph. And a decent ATK. Plus, medusa head souls are pretty cool. -

You don't have to solve it, it's very easy to shift it in sequences so you get to all the rooms. There is no bonus if you "solve" it with the correct number sequence.
F***ing tile shifting puzzles.

Ahhh! I see!
Loving the game, it's so satisfying getting a soul you haven't had previously. Been trading them with a colleague at work who has the US version too. -

Registered 17 years agoI don't think I can get 100% souls, having traded 2 of the one-time-only ones for better weapons

There must be a gaming drought for DS coming. Surely? We've got it all, haven't we? Must be a drought coming.
Wait... there isn't. Hm. This is... unexpected.

EDIT: On the quality of the review, that is.gif)

Just finished this, as in 'beaten the final boss' (my map completion percentage is 98%). Around 12 hours of play in total, though some of that was me getting sidetracked powering up my weapons rather than progressing through the game.
Little bit disappointed with the latter stages of the game. The last area feels totally random, last boss is a bit rubbish (and annoying), and the realisation that collecting souls was no more skillful than repeatedly entering rooms to kill a given enemy has given me absolutely no enthusiasm for collecting them all. The touch screen 'seal' thing was just annoying, too - scrabbling around at the back of the DS after a boss fight is just not fun, and there were a couple of bosses where I ended up having to fight them several times because of failing the seal drawing. Grr.
Certainly good enough entertainment for those 12 hours, but I don't think it's significantly better than the last couple of GBA games. I guess the wait for a 2d Castlevania to match the quality of Symphony of the Night goes on...
...perhaps they should just re-release SotN on the PSP? -

Registered 17 years agoIs that as far as you've gotten Mapster?! I can only assume you haven't been playing it too regularly... you've been at it for ages!
You're only about half way, give or take 5%. -

Registered 17 years agoIm at about 70% now and still loving it I need a great axe armour soul though but they seem to be eluding me. I have now got both phoenix wright and trauma centre to open but I want to finish this before I start either. -

Probably a good idea but for the love of god play Phoenix Wright first. I'm slightly obsessed with it now, it's so stylish.

It's like... even the people who don't like LOTR can ALL admit that it is exceptionally well handled and directed etc. Phoenix Wright does that, everything is in the delivery and the presentation. Phenominally so... by the time you near the end of the last episode, you will be grinning ear to ear when you hear the 'zomg I'm on to something!' music or the 'shit I'm in trouble' music. Just because you've come to love the music as much as the characters... it all works together. Sensual harmony.
Hang on... I'm in the wrong thread! -

Registered 17 years agoI would recommend you swopping your accesory to minas talisman if you want more luck mining souls but other than that your using pretty much bang on what I am and Im as I said at around 70% completion now. -

Registered 17 years agoPah, you don't need the Puppet Master on permanently.
I would find your self a Dead Pirate soul. I won't spoil it for you, but it'll be useful for a good 40% of the rest of the game. Also, get to work on getting a Great Axe Armour... that Bhuj of yours is looking real rusty.
44.6%, eh? I was 0.4% out! -

Registered 17 years agoSounds like you don't have enough options!
Dead Pirates are in Subterranean Hell, you should've met one already if you've been there any length of time. Are you pressing 'select' when you're not using the map?
To get a Great Axe Armour... ah, you can't yet. You haven't reached the Location of Spoilers yet. Oh well. Patience, then.
EDIT: If you can think of no better alternative, Bomber Armour is the best soul I had for quite a long time. Malachi is quite good early on also, I believe you may have encountered one. Possibly.

Now I come to think about it, I reckon I did actually know that...
Not much of a chat-up line, is it?
"Don't worry, luv... Patience is my second name... er..."
