Okay, would like something to watch for tonight and I´m thinking something jet-li or jackie chan-ish. Problem is that all I hear when thinking that is crickets, so I turn to you guys.
Simple plot is fine, but I prefer there to at least be a tangible one...
You´ve got an hour or two before I have to pick, so, GO!

Oh, and could someone call an ambulance for me?
    Oki
    Thx

I found Hero and the flying daggers one pretty dull and slow - especially after CTHD. Hero is pretty tho.

The Bride With White Hair (Ronny Yu film... Beautiful & Brilliant!)
Armour Of God (Always classic jackie Chan)
No Retreat No Surrender (Just for comedic value... Though must admit that I loved it as a kid!)

+ Most of the ones mentioned by other guys in this thread!

oooh - second the vote for Fist Of Legend (Jet Lee's remake of Fist of Fury)... it's one of the best kung fu films I've ever seen!

Drunken Master 2 is great as well if you can find a copy.

I'll second Ong Bak and Hero.

Seven Swords is a lot of fun although I'm not sure it's exactly a classic. The HK DVD of it is out though, it's worth picking up if you see it cheap! (i.e. not the prices the rip-off merchants in Chinatown will try and charge for it :) )

Can I just second these? Fantastic entertainment!

Only trouble is, the UK release of legend of FSY 1 I have (titled 'Jet Li's The Legend) is pap. Not anamorphic, but letterboxed, and dubbed, with not even the option of subtitles (I don't have the TV on loud because I live in an old flat, so subtitles are a godsend even if the soundtrack is in English). It's one of the laziest put together DVDs I've seen. The humour is completely lost with the cack-handed dubbers.

From what I can make out from the reviews on Amazon, the sequel on DVD gives the option to have cantonese voices with subtitles, which is infintely preferable. Doesn't say whether it's anamorphic or not though.

If you want something with great action that's not a martial arts movie, opt for Shiri.

If we're talking eastern action films, I highly recommend "Versus" (it's by Ryuhei Kitamura, who also did "Azumi").

It's a comedy/OTT zombie swordfight film in the same vein as Evil Dead 2 (OTT action horor kind of film).

Some people haven't liked it cos it's really silly, but I love it - except for the tagged on ending which kinda ruins it IMHO, but the rest of the film more than makes up for it ;-)

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is another great Korean film.
