Link. TBH I don't know if I'm worried about our opening game, since its sometimes best to tackle the tough matches early. At least we have a nice finish to the season.

The greatest team to grace this planet. A team who is unsurpassed in their ability to snort copious amounts of coke.

K, another hint then. We have the first player in the history of football to be jailed for on the pitch violence.

We usually beat Chelsea at Anfield, then they stuff us back in London :-(

Anway, Wayne Rooney, great player, or vastly overrated lardy scouser?

Both. Personally I didn't (and don't) want to see him starting a single game for England. 20 min at the end is fine. I'm more concerned about his career at Everton. Moyes puts in all that hard work to protect him and then Sven fucks it all up.

Good player, not great or even worth his weight in his current wage bill. However, he could become great and he could turn out like Paul Gasgoine, I await the later actually. Good luck to him though.

I feel that all the media interest won't be doing him any good. We always have a tendency to do this to youngsters who are good at any sport. Just leave him alone to get on with playing football for the next couple of years then see how he turns out. The person I think should have the final word over what football he plays at his age is Moyes who seems to be handling him brilliantly at the moment.

There seems to be too much weight of expectation on his shoulders, "The next Paul Gascoigne", I doubt thats how we'll want him to turn out, an overweight weaze bag capable of the some brilliance when he felt like it.

Alastair, you and me outside NOW!!! :)

    Now there's a damn silly question !

My season tickets are all paid for and I await Mr. Postman with baited breath. Hmmm wonder what colour this years will be ? Ooh the excitement.

Otto & Lost Soul, would either of you be interested in sampling the Liverpool culture if (and that may be a big IF [with it being 1st game of season etc]) I can get spare tickets for the game (16/08/03)?

Actually are you still away then LS ?

I think you have to make the most of players while they are at the peak of their game.

Leaving Rooney for a few years could see his talent diminish or he could have a serious injury.

If that happened, England won't have made the best of his ability and he won't have had the chance to play for his country.

In the end it's up to Rooney, he does have the option to say he doesn't want to play for England just yet.

That's kind of what I was referring too, Gazza never quite reached his peak due to injuries and ended up becoming one of those players that is always talked about but never seen playing or doing anything but boozing and womanising.

I think that's a bit harsh, Gazza may have been a major chump and pissed away much of his talent, but there's no denying that he produced the goods on numerous occasions for his country. Italia 90 and Euro 96 for example.
Yep, it's harsh, I'm happy to be harsh. The amount of crap they always talked about Gazza makes me over compensate, after all, every single match post 96 would have mention of him, even when he could only play about 15 minutes they would mention bringing him back in for England. I guess I still hold that particular grudge.

I agree with Sleep. Gazza, while he had his moments, was, in my eyes, is certainly no one I'd aspire to be, on the pitch and, particularly, off it.

You'll probably find that the coke is all gone now. Which also means you don't want to be fighting gaz at this precise time.
