    Website

These are a collection of 8 short films with big name directors and actors with a central character of a driver (of a BMW obviously) for hire, played by Clive Owen.

Download them NOW because as of the 21st of October you'll only be able to order them on DVD (still worth it though).

They really are fantastic little films and I wish more people advertised like this. Don't want any of you lot to miss out so get them for free while you still can!

I've had the DVD for quite a while... they're actually all quite entertaining. The one with James Brown was weird as fuck though...

It is indeed. Very Tony Scott though.

That was the first one I saw though. Got it in front of The Recruit in the cinema, was curious as to what the hell it was and a google gave me the BMW Films website.

My favourite has to be Ticker. Fantastic editing.

So BMW are going to be charging for their own adverts? Christ, I didn't exactly have a high opinion of them in the first place but now they've just dropped to the lowest of the low. Lower than Next and Gap, like.

    Have you seen them?

Alright, they are effectively BMW adverts but only the fact that they are paid for by BMW. It's basically 8 fantastic short films that have BMWs in them, generally with some car chases too.

Hell, the first season (5 films) didn't even mention BMW, they were all 'Anonymous Content Presents...', which became 'BMW Films Presents...) for season 2 (3 films).

I would guess the main reason for them withdrawing the ads from their site is cost. Bandwidth but also paying the actors etc. can't be cheap and the ads probably don't sell as many BMWs now as their range has moved on. Hopefully they'll make some more sometime for newer cars.

I'm tempted to buy the DVD even though I already have pretty good downloaded versions.

The DVD has audio commentaries from all the directors (don't think you can get those on the site). It's non-anamorphic though, which is a bit of a downer.

You can't download them with commentary, but you can stream them with the commentary, but only at a max of 300k which doesn't really do the films justice.

Non-anamorphic though :( I'm less tempted to get the DVDs now. My 720*300 WMVs are probably similar quality then. Annoyingly Powderkeg and The Devil are also a 720*300 video file even though the film is 1.85:1 so it's got black borders on either side. Annoying on my widescreen laptop and widescreen PSP, where you get a 1.85:1 mini window in the middle.

Anybody watch the subplot things for the season 1 films? What the hell was that all about? Said it explained how the films were linked and a bit of backstory for the driver, but it didn't do any of that at all.
