My 5-year old nephew is receiving a PS2 this yultide season and I was wondering (seeing as some of you are parents) what you would recommend for games.

    I'll save Errol some trouble.

    lol!

I am not a parent, but my neighbour's son used to (I've moved in the meantime) come over and play PC games, so I can at least roughly guess what gkind of games are suited for 5 or 6 year old kids, so I'd say: Silent Hill2.

Just kidding, but how about Klonoa2? Maybe J&D?

He does love playing Mario, although hasn't got to grips with the rather complicated control system so J&D should be good. He also loves SMB.

Dunno why they didn't buy him a bloody GC?

I trust I am not mistaken for a (anti-)fanboy here, but a Cube would really have been a better choice for a kid of that age. I was just checking the PS2 games list and did find hardly anything suited for kids.

I know but the family wants a DVD player as well, so kid goes to bed and PS2 is used as a DVD Player.

If you can find a copy how about Bishi Bashi Special for PSOne? Absolutely bonkers minigames - all nice and simple and it's multiplayer too.

Have to agree with UncleLou (again have to stop doing that) but for a kid of that age a GameCube would definately be a better choice of console. If they haven't bought it for him yet then consider having a serious talk with them. It is the kiddies console afterall, handle, Telly Tubbie colours and all that :)
The DVD issue is a difficult one though.
If it's a must then definately go for the PS2.

Something along the lines of Crash Bandicoot would be best for a game for him. My little nephew is going on 4 and loves it on the PSone. Not sure but J&D might be a little advanced. Can't really think of any other games though.

Jak and Daxter, SSX:T and THPS are the games my kids love to play. They also play the PS1 version of Spyro over my parents, but it's a bit too cute for my liking...
