Ooh... I'm so close to the end now. I was kind of disappointed in this game until recently in the story (not wanting to give anything away), but this last trial has been excellent!

Did anyone else notice the line "The chief's big organ is a sight to behold"?
    :D
    It made me chuckle anyway...

But yeah, spot on with the review, prof and thanks for bringing the game to my attention - I probably wouldn't have picked it up if I hadn't read about it on EG.

    Awesome! :-D

Don't even bother watching the first one. It even misses out the Edgeworth Shrugshake.

On a slightly related note, I notice that places seem to have stopped hosting last year's TGS Phoenix/DS trailer... which is a shame, because it was brilliant :-(

Anyone know where I could get a midi of the music that kicks in when things 'start to go right'. Would love to have it for a ringtone.

    I'm going to enjoy it aren't I. Aren't I?

Thanks for the pointer. I still think I'll give it a go, I've been curious about it for too long to ignore it now.

I just got this and it's super fun so far (day two of case two).

I particularly like the way Wright looks like a drooling wolverine every time he's flustered and the way the witnesses start freaking out whenever you pick holes in their story.

    I really enjoyed it.

The speed with which you get through the first couple of cases made me think 'this is going to be finished in a weekend'.

Those last few cases though, go on, and on and on.

You've got to keep playing - if you put it down for a few days then try and come back to it, you've forgotten what you've looked at and who said what.

    Top game though.

    5) The game is never clear whether it wants you to work things out for yourself or not. One thing is clear, however. When it does want you to, it’s impossible. When it doesn’t want you to (preferring instead to deliver this part of the case as narrative – see point 2), you’ve already done it, and feel robbed of credit.
    Yep, noticed that.

Also quite annoying is when you pick some evidence to show, or answer one of the multiple choice questions, and yes, you picked the right thing, but for the wrong reason. I wonder, for example, how many people showed the plate of T-bone steaks from the employee room for the right reason.

But, yeah, it's one of those "MUST PLAY!!!" games, for sure. I wish I hadn't wasted it all so fast, but I just couldn't stop playing \o/

The cases seem to get more and more implausible as the game goes on. I don't mean the wacky stuff (like the parrot), but the multitude of plotholes. I really wanted to ask the culprit in case 3, for example, why he or she even wanted to cover it up. I think, as the cases get more complex, it becomes harder and harder to explain why things happen the way they do.

Also, the contradictions you have to find just get more and more abstract and insignificant.

    Case 5 is great, though.

Oh, and I really, really love the game. One of my favourite DS games.

Just like the later episodes of Jonathan Creek. Perfect analogy in my book...

But even you can't deny that it oozes character... It's broken in a few essential places but that won't halt me from picking up the next issue.

Huh? What do you mean even *I* can't deny that?! What sort of reputation do I have around here?! :D

I absolutely love Phoenix Wright - I'm one of its loudest proponents. Trounces everything else currently available on the DS for sheer awesomeness.

Oh, and I really, really love the game. One of my favourite DS games.

In case 3 it was some exposition that was only revealed in case 4 'accidental death still counts as murder' which would be a big reason for the cover up.
The game is at it's best when the story doesn't take over. Case 2 and 4 are, in my opinion (though I know it contradicts that of a lot of others) the worst of the batch. Having bits in the game where you're supposed to lose is an nigh unforgivable crime in game design (and case 4 does it several times). Case 2 also robs the player from final vistory by having the storyline take care of that.
% does indeed have a few too many similarities to four, but since it's soo much better, I'd say that four has a few too many similarities to five ;)
One was an awesome introduction, as gaadf as, though in a diffirent way, as the Village in resi4. Three was my favourite case as it has the best twists (and even something that actually felt like a boss battle).

Re. proper evidence use, there's a quote that helped me: "Wait for the most oppertune moment". THough some cases (iirc 4 again) have lots of evidence thats so close related that it's tricky to figure out which to use.
