    woo. yeah. go bill.

think this is old footage but i dont think i've seen it before...

was it on tv? is it a pre-bewillderness show? anyone?

    cosmic jam

edit: oop yeah - think it must be just a recording of of an earlier live show - could be good.

Hmm, out just in time for Christmas... :)

Not sure about that, seems a bit odd to be marketing it together with a 'director's cut' of Bewilderness, whatever the hell that means in this context - I mean, it was the whole live show, how can the director recut that? I suspect that there won't be that much material I haven't seen, especially since I found his old TV series on UK Nova (nice one chaps) but I'll still be getting it, of course. :)

what the "is it bill bailey"series! no way! have been searchin for that long time.

on uknova ya say? will defn give that a look tonight

apparently the directors cut is less crowd shots and few gags that were cut short will now be in full effect.

I found my box of videos - now just have to discover which unlabelled one has his stand up show on - bit hard without a VCR. The TV series is based on the same standup show anyway. Have you seen the classic 'what I want to do now' sketch yet?

Its the 'grow my beard really long, weave it into my pubes and strum it like a harp' one on the standup show I have.

Sweeeeeeeet! Bill is one of my favourite comedians. I've never agreed/laughed at so many things in an hour when I bought and watched the Part Troll DVD.

I don't actually own Bewilderness though, as its meantto repeat a lot of Part Troll, but this sounds perfect!

Come to think of it, I'm part troll, but in a different way :)

Dylan Moran needs to get out a new dvd, like right now!

You know what, Dylan Moran is good too, but not half as good as Bill Bailey IMHO.

Dylan Moran is like the drunk comedian, and Bill Bailey is like the stoner/druggy/hippy.

They have already worked together on Black Books, so I recon they should do a stand up comedy duo, sort of like Cheech and Chong.

Bill Bailey needs some new material - he keeps recycling the same stuff for the last 10 years.

    Quality not quantity :)

But yeah, I fully see your point.

Its so true when Dylan Moran goes on about women not being romantic. Its so true.

"I man in love thinks about a woman, and thinks "I need you! I can't live without you!"

This is how a woman feels about.....shoes."

Shame he has stopped doing his Richard Claderman(?) impressions - he did them when he co presented the BBCs Fringe coverage donkeys years ago.

Bewilderness predates Part Troll. It's a lot better, imo. He does repeat a lot of material - I went to see him live in between the two and there was hardly any original material in the show at all. Didn't stop me pissing myself with laughter, mind.

I do love his musical material, I think that's when he's at his best, and he seemed to do a bit more of that in his earlier shows. His cockney pop tribute medley for example. And his Chris de Burgh rip-off. And not forgetting his Bryan Adams number.

    /hats off to the badger

Some of his music is good, some goes on a bit and could be a bit more inspired.

The music that makes me laugh is the hotel lobby pianist:

"Die. Die now you smug bastards."

    The whole thing is ace.

I know Bewilderness predates Part Troll (Bewilderness is like 1995 or something.) I was just talking from my perspective, having only seen the later Part Troll.

thanks for just proving that bailey > moran

a truly terrible joke that bailey would never utter.

it is true that bailey's old stuff is better, its not even like he's that prolific, what was the gap twixt bewillderness and part troll? 4 or 5 years or summat?

i like the stuff i hear about him tho too, a mate of mine met him at glastonbury about 6-7 years ago and he was just sitting in a field playing his guitar and singing for people. Also, i remember one time i checked his main fan forum to see what he had in the works and it simply said "we actually dont know where he is or what he is doing at the moment and neither, apparently, does his agent".

it all adds to the bailey mystique.

Yeah I suppose, I couldn't ever see Bailey doing that joke. Bailey is less straight forward, and more random, and he basically rambles, which is ace.

Moran is usually drunk (or acts it) but you can tell he's trying very hard to stick to his script.

    Oh right, cheers.

Yeah, 'Is it Bill Bailey' full series, ask the nova forum for a bump. It's in super-blur-o-vision Real format but the gags are just as good.

Not sure - he has several versions of "what I *really* want to do now is lie down in a darkened room and eat mushrooms/grow my beard long and use it as a harp/etc" line.

    Saves starting another thread...

Does the Bewilderness standup on the Bill Bailey Collection box set (inc Cosmic/Bewilder/Troll) include the Stephen Hawkins sketch (i.e. 'Directors Cut') or is that only available as part of the two disc Cosmic/Bewilder pack?

Can't answer your questions. Just wanted to say that Part troll is one of the best shows/standups I've seen to date! =)

I'd rather watch Lord of the Rings.

Part Troll was the best carbon copy of Bewilderness I've ever seen.

I second that. Also, inexplicably censored on DVD. At least I think it was.
