Hail to the Thief is one of those albums that grows on me every time I listen to it. I still think its a few tracks too long, though.

Yeah, HttT has some absolute belters. If it had been 10 or 11 tracks it would be right up there with the best.

I still don't get the general dislike for Amnesiac. It's a masterpiece for me, I might even prefer it to Kid A.

    wat

In all fairness it does contain my absolute favourite Radiohead song (Glasshouse).

Agreed about HTTT - there's some great tracks. The last three songs on the album make for a stellar run. It does have some stinkers on though (I Will, Punchup).

I rate Amnesiac very highly. The album as a whole doesn't flow quite as well as Kid A, but it has (arguably) some stronger tracks on it. Like Spinning Plates, Pyramid Song, Glasshouse, You and Who's Army? and I Might Be Wrong are all classic.

@Rhaegyr I used to agree with you on both I Will and Drunken Punchup, but both have grown on me a lot over the years. The latter has a very addictive baseline to it. The kind that eats its way into your head on those mindless commutes to work. 'I Will' could have easily been held back for another album. It has similar vibes to a lot of the work on the Bonus disc of In Rainbows, which itself is good enough to contribute to a full album.

I think Amnesiac is my favourite. Most of them have aged horribly for me.

Amnesiac is my favourite too but Kid A is just as good

Still not taken In Rainbows into my heart in the same way. The two most recent ones are still hard to love

The King of Limbs isn't a great album. The recording sessions spawned a number of great tracks, but they clearly struggled to pull an album together. What we got was an album of two halves that don't sit all that well together and a set of additional recordings that don't fit either.

A Moon Shaped Pool is amazing, though. Much like In Rainbows and Ok Computer, it's musically very consistent and a perfect length.

    I agree with this ^^^

Altho I quite like King of Limbs, even though it's not their best. The latter half does just meander on though.

Give Up The Ghost one of my all time favourite Radiohead songs.

In Rainbows probably just edges out OK Computer for my top album.

It's In Rainbows for me, too. almost every track is a classic. Reckoner is the best of the bunch, though. It is bloody amazing!

Yep, In Rainbows wins. Glad we've decided that.

The search on this forum is fucking dogshit. As is most of the site to be fair.

Anyway, I have spent some decent time finding this thread to share that Radiohead have a new song on Spotify called Ill Wind and it is fucking great, as you can no doubt imagine unless you are a pro-Brexit nonce. Please enjoy.

Speaking of shit, has taken me a good ten plus minutes to get back to this thread from loading the forum because of shit coding. At least they aren't censoring comments on the front page that are valid..shit wait they are..

Anyway apparently this song is a b side to the peerless potential Bond song Spectre that lost out to that Sam Shit Smith abortion. Again, why do we let idiots decide things? Cunts to a man.

Ill Wind has been kicking around for a while. Prefer Spectre, which is a real grower.

Can't find the new Radiohead music thread, so this will have to do.

About 6 tracks through. It's alright. Need to give it a few more listens, but he's definitely missing something in his solo work for me. He loves whispering over synths a bit too much. Eraser was banging, but I'm not sure his other stuff is on the same level.
  • Deleted user 27 June 2019 10:45:22
Don't quite know what to expect from Anima. Loved Eraser, thought ATOM was meh but really liked Suspiria.

This is supposedly a continuation of ATOM so I'll listen with some trepidation.

I've listened to it a few times today now and I'm sad to say I think it's absolute garbage. There's no coherence to it whatsoever. Just beeps and glitches all over the place and the tracks go absolutely nowhere. It reminds me of being in high school and pressing the Automatic Tune button on the Yamaha, then setting the keyboard to galaxy sounds and pressing the keys every now and then.
