@Matt36 we don't actually have one. The last one was closed, as it was for an EG'ers situation and we more than met the target.

I'm happy to set up another one. Does anybody have any suggestions? If so let me know and I'll set it up this weekend and post a link?

Unless anybody disagrees, I think this is probably the strongest of the suggestions, and I'd be happy to investigate options (unless there is a specific one that supported your family on this or you would like to support).

It's a very serious issue, and mental health in general is very poorly funded, and still has issues with some elements of society even accepting it is a 'thing'.

I'm really sorry to hear about it drhcnip, and hope things have stabilised.

cheers, mate, though obviously there may be others so i'm happy to hold on...

been a long, long road, especially in tandem with mrshcnip's ongoing cancer journey

i'll have a think - i suggested it because it's so poorly funded, tbh...i've been going frantic trying to get help for her but the waiting lists are ridiculous so i've been sticking my size 12s in many, many doors...camhs didn't want to know after the emergency intervention at a&e (had to rush her there, school wouldn't release her otherwise) - she's 18 on saturday so i suspect that may have something to do with, they basically put the phone down on me a few weeks back....she was referred to barnados for counselling so that's a possibility but we haven't had chance to see any benefit yet so either that or one of the other young people's charities if we go ahead with this....i'll have a look around and ask wifey as she's a counsellor...

very much in the midst of it at the moment but there's light somewhere at the end of this tunnel

got a few bits i'll sling up whatever we go with...

Yup, that was the one before we did the fundraiser for an EGer earlier in the year (deliberately being vague - not sure if they want the situation highlighted).

We can use that one still until the weekend (I haven't closed it) so if anybody wants to support that one, they can, otherwise one for the good dr will be up this weekend.

@drhcnip I don't think we need to hold on sir. It will be a very worthwhile cause and it's nice to support a (decent, at that) EGer in the process.

Have a look. Let me know if I can help with choosing. I know the charity sector quite well, having worked in it for close to 20 years now, so can help if needed. Otherwise you choose and let me know and I'll create the page.

Sounds like a tough year all round, really hope you can get some support for you and the family!

I was quite shocked to read the NHS web page, stating that a request for counselling can take several weeks for them to decide whether they will help or not.
They then say, if you need immediate assistance, contact The Samaritans.

Of course you need immediate assistance if you are experiencing these emotions.
I know the NHS isn't as well funded as it used to be, but I assumed care would be better than this.

I'm in a similar boat myself at the minute, feeling bad, but just talking with friends about it does help. Everyone can relate, in some way to going through bad times. Perhaps talking to your daughter or speaking with her friends might be a good start if you're worried she's still at risk. I'm no expert, but it helps me knowing I can open up without embarrassing myself.

I hope everything works out for you and your family.

    @Timmy

cheers, mate - she's got a good circle of friends that have looked after her and luckily she's grown up to be open with us...she's definitely still at risk as we had a docs appt today and a lot more came out but also had a bit of a breakthrough in terms of support so hopefully we're getting somewhere - could all change when she returns to 6th form on monday...;)

    Awesome idea.

I've had experience with depression and in a good place now, so any help I can give to others would be amazing.

drhcnip - I'm so so sorry my friend.

New charity fundraiser started, as per the post from drhcnip on the previous page:

    https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/eurogamercharity

    Get giving.

(Note, if you're just making a donation, you can add Gift Aid. If you're only donating because you got a game, legally you shouldn't tick the Gift Aid box.)
