Well, if you're in the UK, it's a 95% chance you're seeing this in IE. 11.5% of the world now use firefox to view the web. It's increasing! Download it (it's less than 5MB and the link is above you lazy bast) and give it a go yourself... If you tend to the 'seedier' side of the web this is essential the article Edited by Carlo at 16:44:44 03-11-2005 |
Are you viewing this with IE or Firefox (or something else)?

Registered 20 years agoOpera at home, FF here. Used to be FF all the way, but it's having serious issues with a lot of pages these days and is starting to suffer more from popups.
I honestly don't understand how anyone can bear IE for general browsing with all the ads aimed at it - it's alright for the odd page here and there. -

Registered 16 years agoI can't wait for 1.5 to come out. Why? Auto-update. Yes this may be abused, or not trusted, but think about Safari; it's always up to date, or at least is after a few clicks. With FF 1.5 I can leave my Mom's computer alone knowing that her browser will be the safest out there as any vulns will be dealth with/installed ASAP. I see this as being a MAJOR improvement over MS, which last I checked, forced you to jump thru hoops to keep IE up to date.

I thought FF was their main test platform, because it's what they use anyway. Hence the bugs in/when viewing with Opera.

I use Mozilla Suite here. Been using it too long to switch to Firefox, but I'm sure it's very nice. -

Still baffles me as to why people use IE.
Why though?
I use IE, not through any consious decision, just that's what's always on my computer and it seems to do the job.
I reckon most computer users aren't even aware there are alternatives to IE so it's surely not surprising most people use it.
I've heard of all things like Firefox and mozilla but never tried them. Are they genuinely better or is a big part of the attraction simply that they are not microsoft products? -

however I force my entire company to use IE6 because I can't be arsed re-writing the intranet to make it work properly with Firefox. And I define european corporate browser standards. (evil grin)
(the problems aren't actually with firefox, it's cause I've had to cludge so much stuff to make it look right in IE that when a browser actually following the standards properly comes along it messes stuff up
)
(oh and firefox can't bypass proxy servers for local addresses properly for some reason, it still manages to get authentication stripped by our poxy server even for stuff on the lan

get firefox, get the flashblock and adblock plugins, stick a nice skin on it. Wave goodbye to 95% of annoying website content. Great for browsing at work as you can use wildcards to remove almost all images from sites, like forums etc, get rid of avatars and sigs so it looks like a possibly work relevant bit of text you've spent all day reading...

That pretty much sums up my day at work..gif)
EG + FF 1.0.7 + Adblock + Eurofix 0.5a - a match made in heaven. -

I use Safari. I hate it dearly for not letting me decide what's good for me but compared to the pile of poo Firefox for OS X is it's the obvious choice. -

I've been using Firefox for the past few weeks, was using IE before that. The only difference that has been of benefit to me so far has been tabbed browsing.
