| I reread it recently and it wasn't as bad as I first thought. I quite enjoyed it actually. Sure it was all over the shop and really needed editing down, just saying it's not that bad. |

Let's face it: it was shit. If you notice things like what cubby points out in a book (all over the place, noticeably needs editing), then there's something really wrong with it.
Then there's the boring story and poor characterisation to deal with, and the fact that the whole thing reeks of apathy...
Nah, couldn't be having with it. The 6th book is also guilty, in the sense that NOTHING HAPPENS until the very end, but at least that was a relatively good read. -

Registered 17 years agoHehe, that's true. I don't read very many 'so-so' books. If I'm not enjoying it (and I've no other reason to finish it - say, to understand the next in the series), I'll just stop reading it. It doesn't hold my attention, so why bother?
First 'real' book I really read would be the Hobbit, followed swiftly by LOTR. Favourite books of all time, and really don't understand the 'holier-than-thou' attitude of the literature knobs claiming Tolkein didn't know what he was doing. So what if you can't derive the fucking metaphors from it? Jesus. Go read Lord of the Flies.

Nah it was good, despite the technical inadequacies. Re-reading it recently made me aware that it was much better than my memory recalled. -

Registered 17 years agoWell I've read the first 90 odd pages and it seemed pretty good.
The opening scenes seemed promising, but if it goes down hill from then on maybe this will be the first harry potter film that's better than the book? -

Registered 16 years agoMy biggest problem with OotP was that it just felt like 'filler' material. She was clearly tying up the loose ends from PoA and GoF and beginning to plant seeds for HBP and the seventh book. There was just a hell of a lot of not much happening too which didn't help.
The book also somehow managed to not be that dark, and just come across as really dreary and depressing. Dunno why. -

God yes, you could tell she'd had the idea of Harry and Cho in the 3rd book and then realised that it was going nowhere by OotP and finished the whole thing off in a lame, lame fashion.
Not sure if JK had intended this but Cho always came across as a bit of a prat and never seemed like the type of girl that Harry would go for. Its all sorted out now though!
SPOILERS END -
He's secretly wanted hermione from the start. And he'll get her, oh yes, he'll get her. But I get emma watson you hear? -

Registered 17 years agoDo you think we'll see Ron and Harry spit-roasting Hermione in the 7th then? -
Well if not in the book at least in the film hopefully. -

Registered 17 years agoWouldn't you just be sitting in the cinema with a raincoat on being all jealous though Cubby? -
Nah, she's an actor, it's her job, I'll understand. -

There was a spit-roast scene in GoF? -

Which is completely wrong for everything other than the ball scene, where Hermione 'becomes a woman'.
Not enough for my liking :-/ -

I probably agree with that order, but I liked OotP enough that I read it in one sitting, and have reread it as many times as the others by now.

Sounds good! Heard lots of positive reviews of this one so far. How did you rate the first three? Just so I have a point of reference. .gif)
(Personally I thought the first two sucked from the cock of goats from the cooooooockk but the third was excellent imo.) -

Are you saying you wouldn't? Her voice is grating but in my fantasy we're not talking... =P
