    Interesting

It is a world of disapointment though. You'd think that 'professional' outfits wouldn't make such stupid mistakes, just so much on this (but they do) but on other DVDs he looks at.

    *I* make better DVDs :/

I'm sure those are utterly, utterly important points to some people but that to me does sound really nit-picky (if there is such a word). And this is my favourite film we're talking about...

I suppose I would have to watch the region 1 DVD to truly compare them.

To me it's mindboggling that they've made the NTSC version look like it's on some kind of tape with their shitty edge enhancement O_o

I was fully expecting for the PAL one to be ripped to shreds as I went into that as we are normally the ones that get screwed. That R1 edge enhancement looks horrible.

I followed the link on EE that was on that page and I can see what he means on the zoomed in pictures - Some of those look horrible.

How is that dissapointing? For once WE get the good version of something. Makes a nice change.

Unfortunately if you look at his comparison of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind then we get the shitty version. Instead of the tradional 4% PAL speedup that pretty much everything gets here to change the 24fps film into a 25fps PAL picture, they interlace some frames to keep it at the proper speed at the great expense of quality.

    Hmm. Can't honestly say I'd noticed a problem. :/
