Who's the biggest Dreamcast geek?

Well, having got my collection together, I think it might be me. Seriously, there's a ridiculous amount of stuff here, I'm surrounded by Dreamcast games, they seem to be leaping out of every corner of the flat, and the thought of tidying them away is making me break out in a cold sweat.

As I'm due to move to a pretty small flat next month, I need to save both space and cash and so I'm wondering what all this lot would fetch as a single lot on ebay? I've not seen a comparable collection, I guess most people with a similar collection would break it up and sell it piecemeal, but I can't be bothered to do that.

I've not made my mind up to sell yet cos I still play a lot of this stuff, but I've just not got the space to hang onto everything I'd like to.

Right, here's what I've got (deep breath):

The console itself, a few pads (4 official and 2 unofficial at the last count), 4 VMUs, an unofficial memory card, a couple of unofficial lightguns (one of which might be knackered, the other works great), 1 set of official PAL Samba maracas & mat, and one pair of unofficial "Cha Cha Amigo" Maracas" (so you'd be all set for two-player Samba, believe me it's gooooooood), around 10-20 demo discs from ODM (maybe a few more, can't be bothered to count), and a cd that just happens to have THPS2 written on the label for some unfathomable reason (ahem).

Plus the following boxed PAL games. Most of these were bought new, all are boxed, although some of the boxes are in better nick than others. I might have missed one or two, but there's 60-something games (I stopped counting after 50) Right, here goes (really deep breath)

    Aerowings
    MDK2
    Shadowman
    Heavy Metal Geomatrix
    4 Wheel Thunder
    Red Dog
    Evolution
    Slave Zero
    Hidden and Dangerous
    Outrigger
    V-Rally
    The Nomad Soul
    Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
    Tomb Raider Chronicles
    Quake 3 Arena
    Unreal Tournament
Crazy Taxi (this disc has a seriously scary-looking scratch but has always loaded and played fine)
    Crazy Taxi 2
    Re-Volt
    Toy Racer
    Jet Set Radio
    Trick Style
    Wacky Races
    Power Stone
    Power Stone 2
    Soul Calibur
    Capcom Vs SNK
    Project Justice- Rival Schools 2
    Dead or Alive 2
Ready to Rumble Boxing Round 2
    Ultimate Fighting Championship
    Virtua Fighter 3TB
    House of the Dead 2
    Giga Wing
    Bangai-O
    Bust a Move 4
    ChuChu Rocket
    Toy Commander
    Rayman 2
    Sonic Adventure 2
    Ecco
    Fur Fighters
    Shenmue
    Shenmue II
    Skies of Arcadia
    Grandia 2
    Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
    Headhunter
    Virtua Striker 2
    Virtua Tennis
    Virtua Tennis 2
    Worms World Party
    Cannon Spike
    Loony Tunes Space Race
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
    Daytona USA
    Space Channel 5
    Samba de Amigo
    Ferarri F355 Challenge
    Soldier of Fortune
And CDR copies of Half-Life and Ikaruga which never got a UK release

[edit- also have one official vibration pack, an Action Replay cartridge/ disc combo, and the Action Replay demo disc given away with Future's DC-UK which works as a region-free boot disc]
[2nd edit- added CDRs to list]

Heh Looney Tunes is at least twice as rage-inducing, try it and Wacky Races will feel like a doddle afterwards.

May I ask: what's the point in having eight controllers?

My Dreamcast collection is petit in comparison. I think I have about 14 games, two controllers, two VMUs and that's about it.

I'm good thanks. I don't think any of my games are more than two player.

Did anyone ever manage to get a copy of Half-Life?

I have 75 originals, two Dreamcasts (one unopened), steering wheel, arcade stick, 5 pads, 3 VMU's, every issue of the official DC magazine with all discs, need I go on? :)

I haven't got a steering wheel... or an arcade stick :(

Dreamcast is just so damn good.
  • Deleted user 12 December 2005 22:23:52
Oh Rez cheers for reminding me, I'd forgotten Half-Life, got that too though not an official copy (never seen one, but I've heard there's some boxed PAL editions around). You can literally make yourself a cuppa when it loads.

So back to my question, are DC set-ups like this worth anything yet? Or should I get rid of that damn cooker I'll probably never use in the new flat in order to make space for it all? Don't mock, it seems like a genuine option now that Bangai-O is giving me the eye...

I sooo want that but can't find it anywhere. Plus I don't like the look of the burning process to make a disk!

Samba de Amigo! Well, that's with hindsight anyway, Bangai-O's another one that never seems to get stale. Same goes for Virtua Tennis 2 and Crazy Taxi 1. The one game I enjoyed most at the time was Skies of Arcadia, which was responsible for my having to write a fifteen-thousand word dissertation in two weeks. Nothing to do with my fecklessness of course, it was that damn game. Thankfully for the rest of my life since, it has precisely zero re-play value.

But overall it's gotta be Samba.

It's dead easy with the right software, DiscJuggler is best for burning DC games, and the image I found is self bootable! yay!
Hmmm. A mate has a PC with DiskJuggler so I guess I just need somewhere to get the game. Any clues via email perhaps?

You've not only let yourself down, you've let your parents down and their parents before them back to the dawn of man.

Heh I did mention Ikaruga in my first post, but it didn't go on the list as it's not a UK PAL original. Have I still let them all down? Guess I'd better go and tell them... :(
