I currently have a "MamboX" Music Dive Stick 256mb made by these people but it seems to have its fare share of problems!!!!!!!!

For one the drive seems to corrupt very easily I can add a file (MP3's) or two then take the stick out the right way I have Windows XP, then pop it back into the USB port add a new file and it can corrupt not all the time but a couple of times is enough!

It sometimes over laps songs for instance one song I deleted, and then in the middle of another song for a few seconds or more you hear the song which was deleted! not good.

It also (not all the time) skips and jumps and basically messes up the drive so it needs a re-format!! "again"

I have had 2 (sent 1st back) of these and both do the same, I for one would not recommend one.

    --------------------
Now does the iPod do any of this or do the songs work as they did on the PC drive ? and also does it support USB 1.1 ??

As I'm sick of the piece of shit I bought for £90 !!!!

    Thanks..

If it works it USB2 it'll work with USB1.1 just a LOT slower. Is that right guys?

I need to start a "My mom has my iPod!!" thread, I can't keep my family away from it!

I'm now currently encoding all of her cd's, I love how the iPod recognizes the new additions to my iTunes and automatically syncs, no questions asked.

Haha Otto, I was thinking about that... what will happen? I only have 2gigs of space left.

Still waiting for the husband to sort me an ipod out. I'm fed up of being offered his castoffs.

Quote WOPR " Theres my old cd walkman if you want that."

I mean does he really think that's going to cut the mustard?

    Not this time sunshine!

I got my iPod wednesday. :D 15 gig.

I have a question though, on the ipod section on apple's website that I visited a lot, one of the gifs has the different backlight settings, and one of them is a bright blue background with red buttons. Yet, I dont know how to get it to be like that. The normal backlight is just white, so I'm not sure if they just editied it in Photoshop.

Another thing is while it came with the carrying case and remote, it didn't come with any earphones which I also thought was standard. Not a big deal though since I dont care for ear phones though.

I'm saving up for the newest edition G4s (only start at $1199) and a 17" display for college.

Hold for the G5 if you can, it's not far away.

Failing that, you should see some bumps on the laptops and a bump for the iMac.

So, if price is everything, don't immediately dismiss the iMac. You get a 17" screen and a G4 processor for quite a bit less.

Well done on the iPod, and the headphones do, as they say, stink.

Talking about iPODS, just got back from Canada and before I went I thought UK/Europe iPOD shopping was crap regards accessories - it's even shitter over there in Canada. Can't get eff all from Best Buy or Futureshop, macwarehouse only has a few things. I think the best place to buy iPOD goods seems to be the States.

    /happy to be in Europe

    I got one.

But I'm never ever using a Mac, I occasionally have to use them at work and I can't get my head around them. And those keyboards are utter shit.

WOPR, cheers for the heads up on the Jigsaw24.com stock of iPods the other day. A firend of mine is going travelling for 6>12 months and was looking at delaying it until he could get one of these to take with him. He's very greatful, they reckon they can get it to him in the next couple of days.

I went with Jigsaw because of your recommendations WOPR. You should print this mail off and ask 'em for commission. I have to agree though, Jigsaw are top - as I said before - ordered iPOD 15:15 Wednesday (i think) and got it next day at 12. GREAT!!!

Where did you order from? If it's from Apple they may upgrade you to a new model (unless that's what you ordered of course).

Yeah, I ordered it from Apple. Lets hope they surprise me.

cheers rare, and yeah you're right i will be skint. Although i havent actually bought it yet, but my willpower has been given a massive boost by the promise of ipod. So today i am ready to order (gathered all my coppers together, i kid you not). 20 gb vesion. Do you think it is worth upgrading my pc with firewire, or just buying the usb 2.0 adapter?

The firewire is faster and it also charges your iPOD at the same time, whereas USB is just used to transfer the songs. If you are skint I would buy a USB cable as a firewire card costs a bit more than a USB cable.

PS I gave up by reading a certain book which I daren't mention 'cos last time I mentioned it on this site I got slated ;)

EDIT: Oh and good luck mate

So i take it you use firewire rare? and i assume you can just plug the dock into the mains if you're using usb?

I was also almost fooled by the jigsaw banner, it makes it seem as though they have cut prices massiveley to make way for the new sizes.
