    And then EA sent them a letter along the lines of;

"Yo, if you want ya next paycheck, ya'll better make that shit scalebel, bitch!"

Yeah I got it from an interview with the Crytek guys though so I was not just making it up ;) I don't remember where I read the interview now.

Actually they have specifically said it won't be on any console and their primary focus is the PC. Of course it is tradition for developers normally to come out with such stuff shortly before they announce the exact opposite in a press release.

Yeah that was my fault, I bumped it cause IGN had a bunch of multiplayer videos, then I realised they were insider only so I deleted my post.

I know it sounds gay but I like the idea of America and N Korea teaming up to fight the aliens, it kinda shows a faint glimmer of hope for mankind, something that is sadly lacking in most games...

Kinda like how the Russians and Friends teamed up in world war 2?

new 6 minute video that reveals quite a bit about the game click but that hand to hand combat looks terrible. :(

Yeah...hand-to-hand looks shonky. And that voice over guy is intensely irritating, hope he's not in it.

The environmental stuff is interesting, would like to see that used in a stealth game.

Delayed, they need "a lot more time", no new date given.

With this and Alan Wake probably not appearing anytime soon, at least I can push back my plans to buy a new PC.

It looked awesome but I knew they were having problems. Still, extra time won't hurt them.

What's with that game videos site? It's actually worse quality than YouTube.

Yea, its turned rubbish after they used some new flash software. Downloads are still fine though.

That new warhound game almost looks on a par with crysis graphics wise. Of course, I doubt they'll have all the destructable trees and wacky aliens.
  • Deleted user 8 March 2007 18:47:17
Hm, interesting that's an advert for CryEngine 2, not Crysis itself. I wonder whether we'll see all those features in Crysis then?

Sounds a daft question but I do wonder whether they've built some stuff into the engine that isn't really workable on current gen PC's, but would be good for games coming out in 2-3 years time.

It's a musing rather than a troll btw, I'm not saying those things won't happen.

They are, though it's not pointed out so you don't notice it all in the way the video focuses on it. It's proper "next gen" gaming.

Walking through the jungle, light beams shining down on you through the canopy, shadows moving over your gun as you brush past the plants to come out to a view overlooking the rocky beach and ocean moving realistically and being able to see for miles really is something else. The colours alone are superb.

I take a lot of screenshots, just to look at later. I know that sounds a bit mental but it's seriously impressive.

Its not mental, its sad, perhaps even scary.

Nah, only kidding. I've been know to stand for ages in games just taking in the view, pretty much the same thing :)

Well, I', not kidding, but I'm the same way :(

Wow, very impressive tech demo. I hope the 360 is capable enough to produce these sort of games.
  • Deleted user 8 March 2007 19:07:12
Oh yeah, I'm always one to be drawn by sightseeing in particularly pretty games. I'm sure something like Crysis will provide plenty of opportunities; makes me hope that someone uses the tech for something a bit more leisurely than shooting games...
