Edit: Now I've typed it out, it really did look irrational. Fuck it I'll delete it. I need to get my head together. It's fine.

Yes this, I do about 6 a year, it doesn't take much extra effort to be able to comfortably run that distance if you do them every month or so. Assuming you're not chasing PB's that is.

Don't worry! I saw your post earlier and was going to reply that I'd had similar thoughts run through my head.

Sorry I saw it earlier too but didn't reply either, I should have done. I have similar thoughts about everything I do. Something will kill you one day but it's unlikely to be running, in the grand scheme of things.

Iím never normally one to think like that. Just felt a bit weird reading about it. Itís such a shame.

Back to feeling focused. Iíve got my eye on 1hr 30 mins. One more wee run tomorrow then Iím going to rest up for a couple of days.

I did my second 5k post-fat pad injury (still recovering) on Tuesday, just after 5am. Temperature was a lovely 9c and the air felt fresh. Practically no traffic, either. My knee was not aching all day afterwards, unlike the first post-injury run a few weekends ago. Hopefully this is a sign that the injury pain/ache will be completely gone soon.

@askew Cool man hope its decent weather for it and all the best. I'm starting to actually look forward to mine now. Kind of wish I wasn't going on my own but ce la vie and all that crap. Don't know any other runners so not much I can do about it. It's not like I would actually be running alongside anyone anyway.

Can anyone recommend me some decently priced bluetooth earphones for running/gym etc. Not really clued up on these and don't really want to spend a lot initially.

It'll be tough to get decent ones for that price. I would recommend Jaybird X3. It is double your budget, but you might be able to get a deal somewhere

Nice! There was a half marathon in the Putney area I would have liked to have done had I known about it and not been working today

    @askew

That time is monstrous. Do you have link for your training regime or have you always just been a good runner?

1.27 is awesome well done, I plodded round my HM today in 1.55, was happy with that. Don't have another till the new year now so can comfortably slip back into 3 standard runs a week for a while rather than keeping my fitness honed for HM's.

I was always shit at running at school - much preferred football and rugby - not helped by exercise-induced asthma.

I used a training plan from a book called Faster Road Running. It's probably just standard fare Ė establishing some base fitness, building on it, then specialising for the event

Congrats wunty, that's another incredibly rapid time.

At 46 I think those sorts of times are something I'll never attain now, but I guess it can't hurt to keep trying.

@AccidentProne Cheers! It was a bit crampy at points so it wasn't the most comfortable run I've ever done but I really enjoyed it nonetheless.

Well done for those running 1/2M's!

I managed 15 mins on Saturday without my Achilles breaking down, so am happy enough with that. ;-p

Hopefully that means I can get back to running after a 4 week lay off- which has been torture!

Long-time reader first-time poster. Some seriously impressive half marathon times here.

Ran the Royal Parks Half yesterday. My first event after coming back from recurring plantar fasciitis (finally nailed after four attempts with four different physios), complicated by a bout of achilles tendinitis (my own dumb fault after launching into excessive running too quickly - I can appreciate your frustration Vortex808) that arsed up my training plan.

Dead chuffed to get 'round, and beat my training target of 1:45 with a 1:42:20 finish \o/.

Now to get back under 1:40...

@Destria Excellent time! Have you got another one planned before Christmas? You'll easily break that time without much further work.

Once you've done hit a time for a distance, repeating the feat becomes a lot easier. I was surprised to see how much lower my calculated training stress score was for yesterdays run over the Great North Run, despite being 4 minutes faster.
