Yeah being alone is a big part of it for me too. Baby Maybe is a long way from joining in, unless I go running buggy, but I think if I had a junior schooler tagging along Iíd have to have parent-child runs as its own new activity separate from my regular ones.

Finally went out for a run this morning after 2 and a half weeks, just a 3 mile jobby but, as I thought, it's too bloody hot. Still, glad I went out.

Went out at 6am on Monday, was lovely. Went out at 6:30 today, too hot. Cold shower afterwards was not cold enough.

I'm actually back up to my usual running distance (9K) now twice a week and the only time I can run (due to work/family etc) is about 6pm so it's been pretty hot but I don't really mind the run, what I find far worse is afterwards when my core temp is a little higher and I just sweat profusely for about the next hour. I have to just sit outside with a cool drink.

It's like running in a sauna. But a really big one. Horrible.

That's a large one is all I'm saying. I guess after holding off for 2-3 weeks, it would have to be...

Haven't been for a run for nearly 2 weeks either, 1st week cause of the side effects of my second dose of nanobots and this week no way in hell I'm running in this heat.

Hopefully it cools down enough on Friday or Saturday.

I hate these first runs after a prolonged rest.

@General_Martok Yeah same. I know that you don't really lose much fitness over just a few weeks, but it sure as hell feels that you do.

@freddymercurystwin She's 19 :D I've been hoping she'd start running with me for a while and we've done about 30 outings now, and been good to see her improve. Better to start them younger than that though :D

I went out Tuesday in the heat, it was actually lovely but I just took it very easy on myself. I think you have to in that heat, drop the pace and enjoy the sun.

Fired out tonight for 7k or so. It was relatively nice, thankfully not flagstone splitting heat like the weekend was when i was out on my bike.

Another 3 mile jobby this morning. Still too hot and I'm running like a 90 year old. Fuck it. I'll do a 5 mile route tomorrow morning for a laugh. May as well embrace it.

Exactly guys, if you're gonna run in this heat (cool/raining here again tomorrow) then you gotta embrace it, slow the pace down and think of all the calories you're burning being out for longer, also good training for those HM's in the heat or whatever.

Run streak day 39. Have been doing about 6.25k each day for the last week or so as I changed my route. My speed is still increasing, did it in 31:30 this morning and didn't feel like I was pushing myself that much. My legs seem to be coping pretty well.

5.5 miles this morning and yeah, I just accepted I would go a bit slower and didn't mind it so much. Down to around 7min40 per mile. Every year I'm the same. I should really have developed a coping mechanism by now but it always seems to catch me off guard. Still, was enjoyable enough.

Seriously impressive Nan, think I managed a 31 day 5k streak many moons ago in the Nike+ days.

I wish I could do more than four or five days in a row but the summer holidays have destroyed my chances of even that now Mrs and Baby Maybe are at home

Did my 10k yesterday morning with a long rest in the shade at half way. Then spent the rest of the day with headache, dizziness and so tired I kept falling asleep. Wouldnít have believed I could get heat exhaustion in North Wales after a standard run, but here we are.

Easily done, dehydration? IME if you do a 'stressful' run, be that long or in hot weather or some silly hills or whatever then no amount of water intake in say the next 12 hours after the event can subside the symptoms of having not consumed enough water beforehand.

Felt sluggish this evening but 6k in 37min isnít disastrous.

Plus I got my second local legend crown on Strava and suddenly the map and potential routes starts looking like a Risk board

I love running in the heat, sweat pouring out, it feels great. I always make sure I have plenty of water reserves before heading out. Of course you lose pace but itís worth it. Iím trying to shed about a stone so I feel this assists in losing it

I love both local legend crowns today but PBed a surprisingly technical woodland riverbank trail and a great sweat on with the hear being spot on hot but not uncomfortable

10k in 56minutes with 115m of mostly tree root staircase climbing

Iíll never get spectacular times but its a route Iíve done a lot and its rarely felt so comfortable

My run streak ended on day 41. Felt my legs starting to seize up and could tell they were crying out for a break, so took a couple of days off. Started again this morning with a nice easy 5k. Bit of a shame, but there you go. Still gonna absolutely smash my monthly distance record for July (132 km so far with four more runs to go).
