Registered 16 years agoYes, true. But he did mention he wanted a keyboard for the 360 or something. Look up a bit!

which is what a pc is for?!?
It's just a control method, all you need is a USB port, wich they have.
Dirge of Cerberus for the PS2 even has keyboard/mouse support and that's a third person shooter. -

If the Playstation dies as a gaming platform I shall cry.

Sony just has all of the muscle in the industry at the moment which is a shame, the PS2 was technically the least impressive console by far out of the last generation games yet it had the best support. Of course this made it my favourite/most played console but I'd still rather the developers flock to the other two!

Just saying I hope that Microsoft wake up and the next console release they do so with a proper mouse and keyboard!
They could easily bring this out for the 360 if they wanted. -

Registered 16 years agoYeah. If you bought a keyboard and mouse to play... say, Halo 3, then imagine what it'd be like for people who can't afford to go off spending cash on stuff like that. -

Razzz! Sort yourself out sir! As a fellow Nintendo fanboy, you must see a lot of appeal in a few PS2 games at least?
Everybody's Golf, Katamari Damacy, Ico, Dragon Quest, God Of War ... etc
I won't lie, I've bought a few PS2 titles in case I ever buy a PS3 or even a PS2. I've got ICO, GT3, GoW, Gitaroo Man, & Katarmi Darmacy. I loved Gran Tourismo 1 and wasted 300+ hours on it, and that was tweaking my Mitsubishi GT 3000. I've still got it the little blighter on a memory card somewhere..gif)
You got all those great titles just lying there but don't want to pick up a PS2?? Even a secondhander off Ebay??
Out of some sort of misguided hate for Sony?
No, out of principle I won't by a brand new PS2 for more than £100. The console was vastly overpriced for yonks, nowadays it's bit more realistic, but I might as well wait for a PS3 as I don't see myself ever buying an X360. -

Registered 16 years agoI think they've laid a giant egg trying to 'out spec' a company that's:
a) got far more funds to cushion a loss leader with
b) got their console out (at least) 6 months earlier
I hope it works out for them, as the consumer will be the king. But the PS2 was great for the games, not the spec. They should have worked on a decent spec (not BRD) that could rival 360 almost, but concentrated on the middleware and dev toolkits to make the console more accessible and enable RAD for games from the get go.
I think it's mainly their pigheaded clutching at BluRay that's going to be the death of them, if anything.
Artificially and exponentially raising the cost of their most anticipated release from their most profitable division, just to promote their new media standard - when their track record of media standards being accepted as the norm is so poor - is just madness. -

Or Japan. I get confused.

In Japan yeh, but I figured it wasn't worth it coz I wasn't sure how to get my UK games working. so eff it. -
Sony will systematically kill all developers if the PSX brand dies. It's written into every EULA. -
What does "Console is a flop" have to do with "Playstation brand dying"? Does the PS3 immediately render all other Sony platforms null and void then? -

Registered 17 years agoI think that the article has a point and so do a few posters on this thread. It's not Sony bashing it's just saying that there are potentially some rather big holes in their thinking or plans with the PS3.
The addition of a 1x Blue Ray drive seems like an oversight as it will be expensive and not a very quick drive to read from... In the end if 3rd party support and the games are there for both consoles the fact that one is much cheaper than the other to produce is a big problem. It'd cut into the pockets of developers to produce games on an expensive media if blue ray proves to be the case.
Even if the PS3 is more powerful to save money developers may well just produce a multiformat game to match the technical limitations of the lesser console.
Who knows how things will turn out but like mentioned before their previous firmats like Mini-disc, their MP3 format *whatever that was* and UMD havent proved to be that popular and if they have so much riding on it, it may well be a big risk for Sony and the PS3.

If that happens all MS have to do is put out an external BR drive for the X360, and thus their advantage has gone. I think they even said that they would if that happened. Hinted at it, at least.
