The thing is, the success of the PS3 is actually going to be down to the price of the console and... that's about it.
Everyone I know at my work that's into games (and by 'into games' I mean they play now and again on their PS2, like the look of Black because it's got guns in it, like the look of FIFA because it's got real players in it and don't like the look of SotC because they're not sure what you actually have to do in it) has looked at my Edge magazines, skimmed the articles about the Revolution and the 360 and then said, "Yeah, I think I'll get the PS3. It's already out in Japan, isn't it?"
Er, no. That was a hard disc drive-equipped PS2 that you read about in my Edge magazine 18 months ago, and I said at the time that it wasn't a PS3.
"Oh. Well the PS3 will be out by Summer, anyway."
Well, more like 2007 actually.
"Oh. Well, I'll wait for a PS3. It'll be better than everything else."
My point: the populace have got it programmed into them that PlayStation is the real console and everyone else is second rate copycats.
And that is why the price of the PS3 will be the only factor that governs its success, much as that galls those of us that crave decent games! -

Registered 20 years agoEllie is on TV so much these days that it's a miracle she still finds time to give anything 4/10. Anyway, I realise it is not as exciting but in the interests of stealing my friend's thunder, I was on the amazing and very prestigious One Life Left the other day where I said nothing of any particular merit for quite some time, coughed in the background a lot and accidentally mispronounced the presenter's name. So go listen to them! They're much more interesting than Newsround anyway.
