After reading this gamespot poll, I wondered haw much in either dollars or pounds you would be prepared to pay for the PS3, if the rumours are to be believed about the possible costs. As you can see, a good few thousand people have vote over at Gamespot with the majority saying $400. So where would you set your tick? Sony's stock has been rocked on reports that each PlayStation 3 may cost as much as $900 to manufacture. What's the most you would pay for a PS3? $799 1627 (2%) $699 1195 (1%) $599 5408 (6%) $499 17742 (21%) $399 24850 (30%) $299 13463 (16%) Let's see what we got here ... some pocket lint, a bus token, and an old stick of gum. Yeah, that should cover it. 13191 (16%) Money is no object. Now refill my flute of Dom Perignon and fetch more caviar. Faster, you wretch! 3184 (3%) |
How much would 'you' pay?

Just answer the goddamn question!

Totally depends on what it does. If its a blue ray dvd player and its got HDR as well as remoured, I'd pay £500 maybe tops. I won't pay more than £300 for a games console though. -

Registered 19 years agoProbably around £300. Might stretch to £400 if the player and non-gaming bits are all that.
edit-assuming it's not a big steaming pile of dog poo that is

Registered 16 years ago£300. No more. Even then I'd be a pissed off. £250-ish is more preferable.

I would wait for the 1st or 2nd price drop before considering buying one, depending on it having games I absolutely want to play.
Right now I'm looking a 2nd hands PS2, because of that fucking SotC game... o_0 -

Registered 19 years agoI'd spend a maximum of about 500€ for a console + video/audio leads + storage medium + 2 games. I paid 250€ for the Dreamcast on release day and don't see why a new console should cost much more than that. You can add an extra 100€ to have it chipped. -

PS3 will have to initially be more impressive than 360 for me to do it though, purely because whilst Xbox is essentially dead, PS2 is thriving!
Indeed, I think many miss the point on how the PS2 is essential to Sony's plans. A 100 million users base is something that will never be repeated. According to a guy I knew who manages a GAME outlet, Sony marketing told them the PS2 will remain 'active' until 2010! -

It's possible. We still get a truckload of people come into work and ask us for PS1 games. -

Registered 17 years agoIf it's TiVo and there are Blu-Ray movies readily available, I'd go up to £300-£350. No more.
