200, the amount I paid for my Xbox 8 months into it's cycle. Better come with 2 games again by that point, too. If they charge more on the basis of it recording telly I want the version without that feature, cheaper, thankyouverymuch.

The difference could be, that these TiVo boxes are virtually non-existant in Denmark. I don't know a single person who owns one, let alone seen one advertised. They're pretty commonplace in the UK now though aren't they?

I think what we know as the PS3 case is more akin to the sort of "design studies" that are presented at car shows, with even less actual innards than the cars...

Including something like Tivo would surely be a mistake in this day and age? A growing number of people have Sky+ don't they? That feature wouldn't interest me now, whereas it would have done 2 years ago.

    I can't really afford Sky+ at the moment :(

Well, I couldn't last year. Have the prices changed a lot?

I would stil pay for TiVo, purely because Sky want £200 for a Sky+ box. £300 for a PS3 inc TiVo wouldn't be bad at all.....

I just mean set-top digi boxes that can record three channels at once and you can 'pause' live TV. Not the company TiVo.

Ah right. Well there's Sky+, but I only know of one person with that... I think. I'm pretty sure blizeH has it, though I could be wrong.

Same as the 360 £279 pack. No more.
  • Deleted user 24 February 2006 12:57:22

Not to sound annoying, but I think I will wait for the Revolution. Nintendo are far from my favourite company, but I already have a 360 for one or two styles of games, and I'll want the Rev for the change in gameplay it offers. The PS3 is too much like my 360 to be honest.

Having said that, I'll probably end up with one, I'm awful for that.

    I'm not. I'm a 'revolutionary'..........

Same here. Only interested in a HD if it's essential for the games.

Cut out all the crap which isn't directly related to playing games. You can stick a Live-style service up your arse too. Not remotely interested in that.

  • Deleted user 24 February 2006 13:45:36
I'm pretty sure its not TiVO, just a HD based recorder, much like the PSX thingy that only came out in Japan had. TiVo is subscription fee based which would make it all a bit complicated.

I'd consider £300 to be reasonable and anything beyond £400 to be too much. People not buying a console merely on name brand alone will find it a hard price point to swallow considering the 360 is a shade under £300 and comes with alot of extra kit. But, I'd certainly consider buying it for the same price as the 360 or when it eventually drops to that price.

450 € would be my limit, and I'd only pay that if there are some major games I felt I couldn't do without.

    Or GT5.

The thing is, other than RPG's, I'm not sure what I'd want for the PS3. I'm not into Metal Gear and I don't like Gran Turismo.

All three, 17.99 at the Play place. I simply couldnt watch it as a kid - used to have nightmares about some swirling blue vortex appearing at the end of my bed after I watched the first episode.

Exactly and until they convince me otherwise I fail to see why I should pay such money for a Blu Ray drive.

    whoopty-doo.

    +1
Yeah they could have opted for a HD DVD drive, but didn't, so imo its up to Sony to cover the cost for this unnecessary addition.

I'd be willing to pay £300 for one. When that'll be however, only god knows. Probably 2010 at this rate.

As technology improves it becomes cheaper to produce, hence better technology can be offered in later years for the same price. While the technology is more impressive than past technology (which it obviosuly should be), why should I shell out more than usual for the next brand new itteration in games consoles?

    Blu Ray drive? Big deal...

£45 a film just to have it look a bit prettier on a £3K telly?

    I don't think so.

The question wasn't what is a fair market price. It's what we'd be prepared to pay for one. Couldn't care less if games are stored on Blu-ray, HD-DVD, standard DVD or those little glass card things from Star Trek. I'm certainly not asking for blu-ray. If that puts the price up then it means i'll just have to wait longer before buying one. A games console isn't worth any more than £200 to me.

Maybe... but only if it saves your games to them.
