Registered 17 years agoAfter all the playground antics from Ken and Sony it's supiciously quiet in the Sony camp. I still don't believe that it'll release in the next 3 months, especially considering the press, retail and most European developers haven't heard nothing from Sony yet so close to supposed launch.

Possible, but they're attracting so much negative publicity ATM it'd hardly be worth it. -
Wouldn't be surprised if they're managing bad news. They wanted to release in spring but can't - so announce that it'll be xmas and then everyone's pleasantly surprised if it's summer.
Bit like budget leaks every year - it's leaked that they're thinking about announcing that Gordon Brown will come round, rape your wife and eat your kids and we're all relieved when he actually announces that he's going to kick you in the bollocks and pinch your wallet. -

Registered 20 years agoAnyhew that aside with all this negative press and rumours of possible delays, high hardware costs, and relatively damn all information about the console (very unlike Sony), how long will it be before publishers start getting a little jittery about PS3. Not exactly good for their business is it? -

Registered 17 years agoHeh, thing is it's not like the launch is really delayed as they never actually stated when it would be out, just very sketchy approximations.
In fact, it's really annoyed me over the past few months when, in the non-gaming press, every mention of the PS3 says it will be out in the UK in Spring.
So it's safe to assume that the average mass-market casual gamer thinks they will be able to pick up a PS3 in the next couple of months.
Marketing genius on the part of Sony really - it's not what they said it's what they didnt say eg "hang on, everyone is reporting Spring 06 release for UK and we its March and we havent even finalised the design and components!"
Compare and contrast to when EG printed some inaccurate Sony story a couple of weeks ago and were made to take it down in hours by legal. -

Registered 20 years agoGiven everything I've heard from "industry insders" I have a strong feeling that we won't see the PAL PS3 for till next spring. But they also say that we should wait till e3 before getting too worried.
However, personally I couldn't care less.

Registered 17 years agoIt's very smart of Sony. I'm probably WAY more cynical than the average man on the street, but I'm kind of holding off on the next-gen until all of the consoles are out. However, as soon as a game comes out on the 360 that I actually want, it'll be very hard to make myself wait a year until the PS3 is out (and available an non-ridiculous pre-order prices).
Its looking more and more as if I'll be a 360 owner though ... which makes it less and less likely that I'll own a PS3. MS really have done a brilliant job with their console ... if only there were some killer games*

PAL versions of Revolution and PS3 alike are probably gonna end up arriving in 2007. Depressing, isn't it!? -

But it won't have Sonys games, wich is what the people who own PS2s are fans off.
Not to mention the Dreamcast factor. They kept saying just wait for the Ps2, it'll be awsome, it'll be so much better. It did have a graphical advantage, eventaully, the luanch titles were not all that hot but it diden't matter one little bitt. The avarage consumer waited for the PS2. They're doing the same thing now.
People who want a PS3 will wait, won't matter when it comes, won't matter what the luanch lineup is like, they'll get it.
Not saying the PS3 is shit or anything, developers are saying it's bascily equal to a 360. Lots of titles going multiplatform. But Sony has the marketing and hype thing down wich means they can easely afford to launch next year.
That's why there's no firm launch date yet, keep people thinking it's right around the corner.
