Huge motherfucking +1, although I miss all 5 of my housemates, and a few of my friends from lectures. It's nice to have mummy cooking for me again though! -

Or just read the book, as it's a lot better. -

What's so great about books anyway? People always say 'oh the book is so much better', but if they were so good then, you know, stuff etc. Tired
Just once I want someone to say, fuck the book, watch the film, it's quicker
They're just showing off that they can read, you know to seem intelligent. -

Registered 18 years agoI think it's disgraceful how the police and authorities come down on weed which is a nice, harmless drug but they allow these ... these books to be sold practically at every street corner with virtually no restraint.
Literature ruined my life. I had a well paid city job, in which I was advancing quickly; two raises a year and the freedom to pick and choose which tasks I wanted to do. And then one day this b dealer approached me. "Gowan, don't you read mate? Everyone does it. How you gonna keep up if you don't?" I was a bit wary but I thought it wouldn't be so bad. Surely just one book every now and then couldn't hurt me.
But I was wrong. I mean of course I'd read in school, when I was a teenager. But it was just experimenting then, and because they gave the most boring books to read it didn't stick. (Later I've thought it was almost as if they didn't want anyone to read. At least they were doing something to curb the reading epidemic.) However now it was serious. It was really bad. Maybe it's because I went straight into the heavy stuff, the imports. I'd read them in translation – I know some people think it isn't that bad when it's a translation but I think it's much, much worse. Because when they come from different cultures, the school vaccination against reading doesn't work.
I was sucked in real good. And it didn't get any better either. Finally there was that one book, you know how it goes, that one book that gives you delusions that maybe you should write something too. I'm sure we've all heard those stories before but if you haven't been there you don't know what it's like when it starts creeping in. Soon it's more important than anything else.
I don't think I need to say I lost my job after that. They don't need someone who reads and writes. They want people who can do their part, pull their weight. Who are a part of the machine. With all these pens and books you are bound to stick out sooner or later and they don't want that. Since then I've had to sell my apartment to feed my habit. My life is going down the drain because of lit.
So think twice kids. Think long and hard before you get trapped in the endless labyrinth of books. -

I am on MSN all the time (or Adium as we call it in the mac world). Annoy me any time on there, I need the distraction right now and I'm used t sleeping with my mac beside my bed in case Nicki came on line and turning it off is a bit much to bear right now.
Though I think maybe I should as I'm baring my soul a little too much right now.
Well I think we're all realising, you don't have to know somebody to care about them or what someone is going through. I wish I could do more, I really do. -
