Have a read of the article from this 1up link and say whether you agree and that Sony has played an alienated hand or disagree and believe that you will be waiting for a PS3 regardless of the price and wait; http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3148720&did=1 Edited by unhipzero at 14:43:52 12-03-2006 |

Registered 16 years agoThat's a matter of opinion though. Can't exactly call it wrong just because you don't agree with what they said .gif)
The article did raise some good points but mostly it was just rehashing old news in order to put things in perspective. I do expect some info on the PS3 this month, although I doubt whether a release date will be set in stone just yet. -

Yes, but they didn't specify whether the remark was refering to MS (as a company) and how they handled the launch or the console itself. Not being able to buy one doesn't detract from the actual console and how it operates. Which, I guess is what they were refering to. Otherwise I would agree.
Hardware shortages aren't really an opinion as such. -
Bizarre how the article dismisses the parallel some people have made between the Dreamcast and 360, and then draws a similarly tenuous parallel between the PS3 and N64. I really don't know how much time is 'running out', either. This generation has come far too soon in my opinion and the PS2 is still full of life.
Still, I think it's a little optimistic to think the lack of information is all down to 'confidence' on Sony's part - it's becoming patently clear that the project is behind schedule and considering what they're trying to do with the thing I'm not wholly suprised.
I think it'll be late, but I'd still be unwilling to bet against it. -

But if Sony's really hoping to make Dreamcast 2.0 a reality, now would be a very good time to change tactics.
Not to mention the fact that for all of the 360's sometimes eerie similarities to Dreamcast...
Although I do agree that when it eventually gets released it'll have lost little of the momentum that the PS brand instils in the general public.

I hear you there... let's see, in the time I've owned one I've come across unfinished software (PD0), repeatedly crashing system (not too mention turning it on at least 3 times before it boots up), very noisy dvd drive etc etc..
I'm personally looking forward to the PS3. -

Registered 16 years agoNot sure really - Sony is a really recognised brand however where it used to a market lead in portable audio and tv thats totally been turned around. PSP has been successful though still not a match for the IPOD. I'm interested to see what Sony plan to do (competition in my own opinion is always a good thing, Microsoft can not be left to rule the roost)

Registered 16 years agoPersonally I don't think the PS3 will be out in Europe in 2006.
And it will cost loads of money, like at least €500.
This gives MS considerable space to position itself. -

Forget the Colonel's secret blend of eleven herbs and spices, how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, or who put the bop in the bop-shoo-wop-shoo-wop. The question keeping the world awake at night is, "What the hell is Sony playing at?""
Exaggeration, much? As long as the PS3 is out in Japan and NA in 2006 I don't see that much of a problem. Of course Europeans will most likely get it early 2007.

I've not had any of these issues with mine at all. And the PS3 will just be more of the same, like the 360 is. Considering how I'm not too enthusiastic for the PS2, I doubt I'll be that keen on the PS3. -

Registered 17 years agoThe DC is like a smaller, whiter Saturn.. no?
Also the DC was quite a nice machine, not too big, looked clean etc. The PS2 (original design) was awful, all big and bulky and that. The revised PSTwo was much better.
The PS3 though, hmm... im thinking a hardware revision is seriously needed, but then its not the case that makes the console, its the games.

I adore the design of the Dreamcast. Very swish. -

And the point about the 360 'pretty much copying' the PS2 design...apart from the fact that it has the vartical/horizontal thing going on it looks nothing like it!
I would agree though that if Sony release the PS3 in the design they showed at last year's E3 it'll be a bit of a disappointment compared to the PS1 and 2 designs. -

they need to do somthing different.
ps1 was an oringal (ish) design.. par the saturn
But that copied the Saturn design.
the dreamcast copyed the ps1 design
It was a horrible design and did nothing of the sort.
sony came up with the ps2 design and made the dreamcast look a bit stupid and old tech.
You really need to get an eye test done very soon.
xbox360 has pretty much copyed it..

im just trying to say, each time sony has released a console its been quite oringnal and nothing like anything that came before it.. it helped in the success of the playstation brand i think.
gowd im sounding like a fanboy now arnt i..

Heh, no, I think you sorta have a point. It's pretty fair to credit Sony with pushing console design away from the traditional 'toy'-like looks and more towards hifi component and dvd player design, although because those things already existed I'm not sure you can call it 'original', as such. And yes, I do think it helped the success of the PS brand.
I don't know what they've been playing at really with the PS3. I mean, on the one hand you've got a console and controller design that looked rushed and poorly focus tested but at the same time they spent 6 months making that Killzone trailer. All I can think is that they were overcome with a sense of complete conservatism when it came to designing it, because the one thing it doesn't have compared to the first two PlayStations is any sense of adventure to it.
