and i agree the ps2 wasnt the best looking console design.. but thats not what im getting at, it was compleatly different to anything that came before it.. much like the ps1 was.

now the x360 isnt anything like the ps1/dreamcast designs.. but in many ways it has copyed the ps2, do you really think microsoft would come up with a virtical standing console if the ps2 did not look this way? to many non gaming people the x360 does look like a white ps2.. ive herd people say it on more than one occasion.

now if the ps3 design is changed, to somthing compleatly different, somthing that nothing before it has looked like.. people are going to take notice. .. as it is, many will look at it and think. oh, its a fatter smoother ps2.

you have to put yourself in the mind of people who arnt gamers, the people who first see what a new console looks like when it gets a 20second news story or is desplayed in a shop window.
Specsavers are doing great deals at the moment. Dreamcast looks nothing like a PS1. It does look similar to a Saturn though.
    360 looks nothing like a PS2.
PS3 looks like a BBQ grill.

The PS1 was more rectangular. Also a hub type system on a CD based system is not uncommon and certainly not pioneering.

The original Playstation looked pretty bad, compared to designs like the revolution, PSTwo (slim) and all that. It was really wide and the shade of grey they used wasent the best. The updated model was nicer, but it was still more of a rectangle, with rounded edges and all that. In terms of copying designs all I can see is that it has a hub, is grey (the NES was grey, as was the Game Boy), has two power buttons (the DC has no reset button). Infact the only similarities have also been done on previous machines.

I do think the 360 could do a Dreamcast though, well there is a slim chance. Loved the DC and all but it really depends on what the public think and all that.

    In summary: I dont know.

edit: was it modded into a George Forman shell?

    I'll say this: O_o

    Original PS1 or psOne?

Either way.... no. The DC looked like a shunken Saturn and took its colour scheme from the japanese version of the same machine. So not there. It could be argued that the psOne took the colours of the DC but not the other way around.

I quite like the look of the neo-geo back in the early ninties however at the moment the SP and PSP are the best looking systems by far and soon to be DS lite

Although obviously not out yet, I think the Revolution will set new standards in terms of home console design, it's a sexy beast.

    Awwww, bless...!

360 looks like a nice bit of electronics kit for your livingroom, far better than the original Xbox design, that's for sure.
