i was reading the mirror today who said the PS3 will be just under £300

how can they get away with sprouting such nonsense without a source?

Have to wait and see how this all plays out. MS said the 360 would come with a hard drive standard and looked what happened. Too much fudging. E3 will hopefully answer every single question from design to specs to price so it can all be put to rest.

A bare bones PS3 system will cost £300 I reckon.

was just annoyed by the paper for not even saying they were just speculating... and they said ps1 and ps2 rocked and that the 360 had been out since last year (i guess it has, but only JUST).

I thought the quote was quite ambiguous.

Wasnt it "We are telling developers to work on the assumption that a hard drive will be present".

You could interpret that as them saying "If you want to make a game which needs the HDD, or will take advantage of it, go right ahead, we dont mind either way".

No, because its not saying "we will require devs to use or support it".

Like frod says, its unlikely they wouldnt, but with the current 360 situation there is ambiguity about if a game can require the HDD or not (look at the shitstorm ChampMan has caused). Sure, online games can demand it, but its a bit shakier offline.

In this case Sony are saying devs can demand the console owner has an HDD if they want to, or they can totally disregard it.

Heh, fair enough, its giving me a head ache anyway. There was nearly about half a dozen double negatives in there at one point.
