I've only ever seen Burts in my local organic shoppe. They're fucking expensive there, so I guess that supports your thesis.

You do tend to see them a lot more in Devon and Cornwall as they are a West Country company. They also do a chorizo flavour and a wave cut firecracker lobster which is worth checking out.

On a related matter does anybody remember the Hairy Biker branded crisps...had them a year or so ago but can't seem to find them anymore. They did a prosciutto ham and Gorgonzola flavour that was really good.

Also, for anybody living in Wales...I'm sorry. But, there is a smidge of good news...the Taylor's crisps are really good, the lamb and mint and beef and horseradish ones are the best. Taylor's have a really different texture to most crisps in that they are thicker but a lot crunchier and drier than other varieties which I think really works well...they stuff the bags to the brim as well unlike Walkers who seem to think that six crisps constitutes a bloody bag.

Actually, thinking about it the texture of the Taylor's crisps is very similar to Brannigans. Do I remember ham & pickle Brannigans from back in the day?

I've actually never met anybody in my life who remembers years ago when you could get bacon & tomato sauce flavour frazzles..I'm far top old to be on gaming forums. /)

This is something I periodically ask myself. Did they lower the content weight without notifying us, or did they increase the size of the bag to make it look like great value?

I'm certain many years ago bags were as you say stuffed to the brim whereas now it's like getting a bag of air!

And what's with the shitty multipack crisps, they're even bloody worse with about 2 crisps in them!

    True that.

First the grab bag and now we have the sharing bag though. Got to be honest and say I can't remember the last time I bought a 'normal' size bag of crisps. I don't eat nowhere near as many as I used to but when I do I don't fuck about with 37.5 grammes or whatever it is...it's share bag all the way for this fat boy! ;)

Just last night tried Tesco Finest Cumberland Sausage & Mustard (very nice, reminded me of Brannigan's), and their Sea Salt & Ale Vinegar, holy crap, the nicest S&V crisps I've ever tasted, really nice sharp taste.

Seabrooks ready salted were the best thing ever. Then they changed the packets to foil-lined for added freshness and they stopped tasting of grease-overloaded death. Turns out the lack of freshness is what made them so good.

I rarely eat crisps these days but I am fond of the those large bags of Walkers Extra Crunchy (Salt and Malt Vinegar). They are quite packed full of crisps.

Saying that, I bought some BBQ Pringles the other day (I've never bought them before) and was annoyed to find the top 3 or so inches of the tube were empty, is that how they're supposed to be? If so that's appalling, making you (rightly) assume they are filled to the top.
It's a funny thing but you can have all the exotic flavours and kettle fried and hand cut crisps going but if there was one crisp that was always a go to crisp and that was always there for you and never let you down it would have to be the Walkers salt n vinegar.

M&S recently did a flavours of summer range that included beef burger and fish n chip flavour crisps. Have to say that the beef burger flavour was rank but the fish n chip variety were far nicer than I expected them to be. Would buy again

On a related note, if you don't know M&S Bombay Mix is the ambrosia of the gods.

I did use to love the Golden Wonder sausage n tomato flavour...still get them very occasionally but a pale imitation of their former greatness....a bit like the sausage and egg McMuffin.

Any crisp flavour with 'tomato' in it is immediately passed over in my book. Crisps should be savoury, not sweet!
Whilst I would normally agree there was something about this combination that worked for me.

Used to love these as a kid.

They took them off the market and brought Frazzles in instead, but they were never the same. :(

Apologies for vearing slightly off topic but the savoury varieties of this stuff is amazing

The goats cheese and black pepper is about the most addictive stuff I've ever munched.

Sorry mate, yep those are them. Light blue pack, on offer at moment (£1 a big bag). I've just bought four more.

I'm on a perpetual mission to find the sharpest, most eye-wateringly flavourful S&V and also Pickled Onion crisps. Tesco Sea Salt and Ale Vinegar: on the list, thanks!
Same here, same as I'm on an eternal quest to find a genuinely sour sweet (stuff like Toxic Waste is weak sauce).

The thing I remember about the really eye-watering S&V crisps from childhood is the dust, like Disco's were caked in it, you could feel the artificial crap oozing off them. These Tesco's ones have a nice, natural bite. They're better than Kettle S&V.

Eating a bag of Quavers. Meh. Not really enjoying them, massively overrated.
