In the States, when with fish, French fries are always called chips also. I dunno why, but it is a little confusing.
Does anyone remember those Fish and Chips (this'll confuse Toonster) flavour crisps? Of course they never tasted of that.
It's sort of similar in Britain, chips are always "chips" unless they're served in an american context (for example at McDonalds) in which case they become "fries". -

Chips are shit. 50p for a quarter of a salted potato? Sod off.
Sounds like an extreme version of those "salt n shake" crisps smiths used to make, only this would be "chop n fry n salt n shake". -

I tried them the other day - can't say I could define the 'asparagus' flavour in there at all. A bit expensive too. I think if you're going to have 'wanky' crisps you can't go wrong with their vegetable crisps.
Tyrells Asparagus and Crushed Black Pepper FTW!

Seabrook crisps FTW! Ah, as a student I must've eaten several times my own bodyweight in Seabrook crisps when I was living in Hull, the only thing I regretted about returning south was the absence of Seabrook crisps.
I was pretty surprised when I read this thread and realised I'd forgotten Seabrook's name. A few google searches later, and I discovered that you can get them mail-order from their painfully incomplete website. Yaaaaay! \o/ -

The vegetable crisps are beautiful as well. Have you tried the smoked salmon flavour? basically prawn cocktail but nicer. all a bit ridiculous but great nonetheless. as for the price, they were a sponsor at Hay, and as I was a steward = free crisps!
if unwanky is a criteria then Frazzles FTW!
EDIT: I sound like a moron, sorry!

Registered 16 years agoNah, you sound like someone who likes crisps!
For me, it's Frazzles, Smoky Bacon Wheat Crispies, Pickled Onion Space Raiders (or Monster Munch) - but only from back in the day when they made your eyes bleed, S'n'V Squares, Ready Salted Walkers, or Cheese Hula Hoops.
There used to be a NikNaks flavour I really liked but I can't remember what it is, and they don't do it anymore.
Anyone remember Wickers?
Or were they called Waffles?
No, no, they were Wickers.
Oh, oh, and Sky Divers!

I'm now contemplating going over the road getting some, some twiglets and a big bag of pork scratchings then sitting down for an evening of no-brainer effects laden films with beer and Easter eggs.
I fully expect to be dead by morning. -

Registered 18 years agoSalt and Vinegar crisps are awful. Anything that makes you screw up your face like a bulldog licking piss off a nettle cant be good.
Although Salt and Vinegar Square Crisps are ok (not as good as the cheese and onion ones though). -

2x Cheese and Onion Square Crisps
2x T-Bone Steak
1x Scampi Flavour Fries (Smiths)
1x Bacon Flavour Fries (Ditto)
Now just need to decide what film. -

Registered 18 years agoWell the ones they had didnt seem to have much of a salt/fat lining to them so I passed and got the Fries instead. Cant be doing with pork scratchings without a 5mm layer of salted fat.
Pike, theres no meat in those flavours. Anyone would think you were a pinko treehugger.

I see Monster Munch now have their original monsters back. -
...and all is good in the world again. -
yay monsters
EDIT: They're also back to their original big size, rather than the piddly little ones of recent. -
No the fuckers don't. They still haven't brought back Spaghetti sauce flavour. GRRRRRR!
