I've been trying to verify some of the rumours. I think a big step forward would be finding out when the developers knew the real name was "Wii". If they say it was since *checks rumours*... January, I think it would be very interesting.
Also... compare:
Red Steel will not be the only game revealed prior to E3, although Nintendo will not show anything till then.

However, Eidos will announce later this week that it will be supporting Nintendo’s Wii console and therefore we’re very likely to see the next Tomb Raider title on it. Good news all around.
and the Metal Slug announcement.

I'm more worried that we'll have no surprises left for E3 at this rate though. Thank God that Nintendo are morbidly paranoid, I'll have something to look forward to! -

from that rumour list has me thinking Table Tennis Wii rather than GTA or anything DS related. Would make sense. -

But.... counter strike....
The first time I fired up a game and someone called me a "shotgun whore-bitch asshole!" or something my whole view of nintendo as a company would be shattered.

Registered 17 years agoRather than Terrorists VS CT it would be Team Mario V Team Bowzer with Nintendo character models obvioulsly but using the CS:S engine.
I've always wanted a Nintendo FPS!

I was hoping they'd bring that table tennis game to the Wii. Excellent news. -

Well according to news/editorial at nintendo, its been asked for:
One of the questions I get most often about the Wii is, "Will Resident Evil 5 finds its way to the system?" I wish I knew. My fondest hope is Capcom will announce it at E3.
I cannot see Nintendo hinting at it without actually having firm plans.
I know Nintendo marketing is pretty poor, but I doubt they would dangle a carrot which will show shortocmings in their line-up, so i would say as good as confirmed. -

That depends on how good your pesonal hygiene is.
Mine would be bloody great if I could lick my testicles
That depends on your oral hygiene...
But scientists have proven that dogs have milions less germs in mouth then humans despite licking their testicles.

Don't get your hopes up... they'll probably just announce Resident Evil Gun Survivor 5, or something

It really is a pity that Nintendo had to come out early with the name of their new machine. It really would have been absolutely hilarious hearing of industry execs and press falling off their chairs laughing. I suppose they did it early as a desperate attempt at damage limitation. I suppose they think it will have blown over by next week. Anyhew they can now just concentrate on the games.

Which is why they did it of course, to not detract from the games. Of course they didnt do it for "damage limitation" as if they believed the name was not the right one they would have done it. But are you seriously saying you expect industry execs and press "falling off their chairs laughing " at the name released of "Nintendo Wii". Just a "tad" childish, me thinks, and would not have happened, but lets not get into that all again its incredibly dull..... -

Registered 20 years agoOk maybe not falling off chairs laughing but there would have been many a raised eyebrow and Sony and MS execs grinning uncontrollably. Ye see if it was the right name then why not just wait and announce it at E3? Definately smacks of a damage limitation exercise considering the amount of negative coverage the name has received so far and it may have worked. -

Becasue it would have detracted from the impact of the most important thing - the controller and the games. Simple.

Cool.
I vote Nintendo call it the Youthist. Tag line for advertising blurb: 'Who The Fuck Are You?'. -
