I'll try that without the mayo Dr S.
    Mayo is yuchy.
I've got some wax covered Snowdonia Mature Cheddar at home, yummalicious! :)

Something just occurred to me which is a bit silly. I just chucked some bread out that was a little mouldy but I'm munching on a bit of dolcelatte and biscuits. Thinking about it, I'd probably sooner eat the mould that's growing on something that didn't come out of a cows tit.

    So what's the difference?

    Bread mold tastes yucky.

Incidentally the "world's largest cheese on toast" thing was a load of balls. They just pushed loads of slices together and then grilled them one-by-one and gave them out

The mould that grows naturally on food, such as bread, can be very nasty for your health. Some of it can be lethal if eaten in large amounts. For example, there are some types of penicillin mould which can grow on food that is lethal.

The mould used in cheese on the other hand is specifically grown to be entirely edible and then injected into the cheese during production.

I'm allergic to Penicillin so i avoid all mould and stuff on foods, just in case. Also i'm not keen on eating mouldy food if i don't have to! :)

    /is eating cheese on toast

A splash of hot pepper sauce onto the cheese during cooking is yummy.

I'm all for cheese and beans on toast, although i've found it works better with the cheese under the beans.

I think that you'll find that the mayo and cheese create an emulsion, one that is necessary for the gloop factor to work.

Trust me, I never thought it'd work as a combo in the first place but it sure as heck did.

Cheese on toast rocks. Am I the only one that prefers "uncooked" cheese on toast, without the grilling of the cheese?

I suspect I am, although I have managed to get the bird hooked on it too.....

Strong? - Quite strong, have had stronger but it's "up" there
    Crumbly? - defo
Sticks to the roof of your mouth? - check
Taste? - Bloody luvverly - this is what matters
Cutting out wedge shapes then peeling off the wax to get to the cheese? - Priceless

Don't forget to melt some cheese over the top of the peanut butter soaked hot crumpets.
