Registered 12 years agoDidn't South Park already do WoW? Bet the film is worse. -
Didn't the southpark team win an emmy for the WoW episode they did? Blizzard deserve a lot of kudos for letting them take the piss royally out of them
So they've already confirmed it's going to be from a human perspective eh? I guess that's to be expected. Hopefully they'll have a big enough budget to get plenty of the other races on screen.
My main concern having thought about this for a bit is how on earth are they going to transfer the art-style into a live action flick without it just looking extremely generic. Taurens, the bright colour palette, the exaggerated proportioned buildings etc.
I'd rather of had Del Toro doing it, but he's on the Hobbit isn't he. But without it's unique style it's just going to be 'another fantastic movie'. -

Registered 13 years agoAm I right in thinking that WoW has no specific lead characters or storylines?
I never played it. -
It's has plenty of well known characters, but they would never be the protagonist as the games have never been single player/linear story driven. -

Hollywood have really got their shit together lately, there are some really imaginative great new films coming out these days
Having said that, if Sam Raimi directs and casts Bruce Campbell in the lead role as Leeroy Jenkins then I'd watch it. -

Shame that Halo movie didn't get the green light, would have been bizarre to see Halo, Gears and Warcraft go head to head... at the cinema.. -

Registered 12 years agoI'm willing to bet big money that Sam Raimi will not direct WoW. Spiderman 4 and 5 are shooting back to back, and I read an interview a while back where he totally slated the concept of games to movies. It just doesn't seem his style.
No go, guaranteed. -

And this is why it will be fail, as 99.9% of the world have no idea who this is and even less interest.
Seeking some of the locations will be great, and it'll no doubt be full of references (hoping for Mankrik's wife).
99.9% of people have no idea what Stan Lee looks like.
Doesn't mean it doesn't bring a smile to the faces of people who do when he pops up in Marvel films.
Leroy Jenkins for the main role tbh. -
Who are they going to cast as Krankie? -

Stupid end of the page, I typed all this on my phone!
They should make an art film set in one room. The film starts of with a young good looking guy coming in the door and throwing his gym bag on the floor and sits at his computer. He then decides because he has nothing else to do that day he will start up WoW for the first time, as his mates have been talking about it.
The entire film is shot from one scene behind and to the side of his computer. And the film consists of his downfall. He gets increasingly fatter and unkept. You see the phone ring and after making excuses several times he eventually disconnects it. You see friends stop by at the door at the back of the room but they are also shunned with excuses.
After a while people stop coming. He has now turned into the complete opposite of his former self and is barely recognisable. Eventually he dies.
The film ends with one of those WoW funeral things which then gets crashed by a bunch of new players who think it is hillarious. The camera eventually switches to one of the players of the funeral crashers, it is a young fit and healthy lad who decided to give WoW a go today because his mates kept going on about it and said it would be a laugh.
Film ends with "The Circle of Life" from the Lion King.
Someone give me money. -

I'd prefer they just did a warcraft movie as opposed to a WoW movie, that might just be me though.
It is a Warcraft movie, it's not World of Warcraft: The Movie. It's just a film that will build on Warcraft's already rich lore. -

Registered 14 years agoThe one piece of concept art released showed Teldrassil as it was being grown.
But the popular theory is that the film will deal with the as yet untold story of why the Horde and Alliance decided to break their peace treaty after the Burning Legion invasion. -

Registered 14 years agoConsidering how much of the film will have to be CG anyway, they might as well do the whole thing CG.
The problem is one half of the fandom is going to want a deadly serious epic with huge battles, freudianly large swords and Night Elves in armoured bikinis. Where as the other half will want something more light hearted full of in jokes, Bruce Cambell as Leeroy Jenkins and Night Elves in armoured bikins. -

Massive bump for an old thread but filming started on this yesterday...please don't be shit!
