Nintendo Sports

After seeing the E3 demonstration videos of the tennis, baseball and golf, the games appear (as intended i imagine) to be very light. This makes me think that they may have a plan to bundle the 'games' as part of the Wii, perhaps on the internal flash memory, or an in-box game. Whaddya think?

It looks like fun, but very short lived and the kind of thing to wear off after an hour. If its full price i can't imagine anyone buying it; not the 'hardcore' or even 'casual', who may both find it too simplistic or expensive for what it is.

I haven't seen the footage yet but as a mid-price release (eg £20) with online play it seems to offer at least as good value for money as, say, zoo-keeper.

I also thought that it might be a bundled game. It would make a nice little introduction to the Wii in the same way as MPHFH was a nice little introduction to the DS.

I'm not so sure about that. They're a business and have to make money somewhere, they won't be making a profit on the console, so anything that stops you immediately rushing out to buy some £50 games would be a bad idea for them.

I suspect (hope?) that Wii games will be priced significantly lower than x360 or PS3. Lower development costs and a strategy which emphasises lowering barriers to entry should encourage the big-n to, at least, adopt a two-point pricing strategy where 'mini'-games are cheaper than triple-a titles.

can you sellotape a controller to your socks and have a footy mini-game?

As bundled games they'd be perfect. Easy to pick-up, illustrate the controller functionality perfectly and have simple, accessible styling.

I do think that Nintendo will do a box-in as they want to expand the gaming market to everyone, right? But if a teenager goes into Game and buys a Wii plus Metrod Prime 3 and Red Steel then Mum and Dad at home will look at those and go back to reading the paper.

But if there are free, bundled, friendly-looking and easy-to-pick-up games included then said teenager may say "Mum, come over here and play this with me" and before you know it: a new gamer.

This would also mean that two wii-motes in the box is a must.

Was just thinking, wouldn't it be nice if this package had a Snooker/Pool game as well, the controller would bound to be nicely suited.

Bit less exhausting to play as well!! :)
