Web surfers in Birmingham are more likely than those in any other city to search for pornography, according to internet search engine Google.
Google Trends analyses the type of searches made from different cities around the globe.

Manchester came second, followed by Brisbane, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. Brentford, in Middlesex, was seventh.

South Africa, as a nation, likes it more. The Finns are second to English language sites.

It's because Google guesses where the IP might be coming from, rather than knowing exactly.

Who types "porn" if he's looking for porn, though? That sounds pretty ineffective to me. :)

Do you use German or Enlish words for your porn search?

Brummies are also the UK people to feature on the top 10 searchers for Anal Sex, 4th in the world overall.

I like the way it gives you relevant news articles on the graphs so you can see how news has influenced the searches. (one of which tells me 32% of women have had anal in the last 6 months! that's quite a lot really, almost as many as gay men)

That article seemingly caused a massive spike in searches :)

Anyone know why Birmingham actually appears so high? I'm guessing it's some kind of anomaly.

Why does this sort of statistical nonsense always find its way onto the BBC news site?

I'm not from Birmingham, nor do I have any roots at all there, but this is just bollocks, as somewhere is bound to have a few more people that search for porn than somewhere else, even if its only 5 more people.

Its probably to do with the fact that Birmingham has a big student population or something.

/awaits all the "so what, the article isn't lying" comments

Well yes, somewhere does have to be top of the list, but the place that DID do the most searching for porn appears to be Birmingham.

Well done brummies, now get searching for felching pics. 4th is just not good enough.
