Think I'm getting stiffed on eBay!

I won what seemed like a good 360 deal on eBay on Sunday night and paid up immediately via PayPal.

Until this afternoon I had heard nothing from the seller whatsoever, and have sent a couple of emails asking when I might expect it. Then I noticed the seller had bought and paid for a couple of games in the last two days on eBay, so they're obviously around. One of them was for a 360, which worried me. Then I noticed the seller has relisted EXACTLY the same item.

Finally, after I left negative feedback and contacted eBay, she has contacted me to tell me that she will send my 360 out tomorrow, and that the relist is for her friend who, coincidentally, has exactly the same items to sell as they bought at the same time in January.

I really don't know what to think. The feedback on her account is excellent, but this really smacks of 'scam'. Even if it's not, I'm worried that I'm going to buy a dodgy 360...

Wondering if I'm better off accepting her offer to request a refund, and just getting myself a brand new one in Game (only saved about 50 on Bay really).

Premium, second controller, GRAW = how much? Is it pretty essential to get the Plug and Charge thingy?
  • Deleted user 17 May 2006 14:23:35
take delivery of the 360 ... then request a refund :D

tbh i wouldnt touch a secondhand 360 with a barge poll, could seriously hamper your attempts to get it fixed/replaced if anything goes wrong

if it breaks, buy one from a shop somewhere, then swap the new one for the old one and take it back and get a refund.

edit: make sure its a multi national company though with money to burn - not an indy.:)

I would never buy anything on eBay that cost more than 20 or so. Basically, more money than I can afford to throw away if something goes wrong.

First reaction is to say go for the refund, but I have had dodgy dealers come good on eBay before.

Just get 4 2600mah AAs and a 30 min charger instead - 20 in total. Batteries last way longer. 66hrs into Oblivion and only on the second set.

The play and charge thing isn't essential, or even useful IMO.

I bought a charger and 8 rechargable batteries for 20, and the batteries survive a whole weekend of play.

    EDIT: snap!!

But I got more batteries \o/

    +1

If she's offering a refund through paypal I'd take it. Now that you've already left bad feedback you wont have much leverage if the 360 arrives DOA/damaged etc.

I like my Play and Charge kit because the battery life seems to practically go on forever anyway, plus as it's USB I just use a spare port on the PC to keep it topped up.

Yeah whoops! Got negative myself in return. NOW she's talking to me!

I've asked politely if she can refund the money and we'll fill in a Mutual Withdrawal form on eBay...

    HMV tomorrow lunchtime...

Bit odd that it was purchased in January, only used twice, yet comes with a copy of GR:AW, which wasn't released until March.

I'd defo go for the refund option.

If that fall through, then open a Pay Pal dispute. That'll either scare her into sending the item or giving you all your money back.

    Gawd I hate Ebay. :p

I love what the seller said about you...

"COMPLAINER DO NOT BOTHER WITH UNLESS YOU WANT -VE FEEDBACK"

hehe thats why i love ebay ;)

Looking at her listings, she looks genuine enough. She has no other 360's up for sale now at least, just some tooth brushes. It looks like she has been slow sending people things in the past and it also says she was away at the weekend, so it should be legit.
Her habit of selling LiteOn DVD Recorders is a bit interesting though...

    Bought 28 March
    Sold 2 April
    Sold 16 April ???

I have to say, though, that in the last 3 days, the only thing that got a reaction out of her was putting negative feedback on her, which I did when I saw the exact same item being sold, apparently for her friend. And I mean the EXACT same item. I mean, what you you think?

I'll feel better buying the 360 brand new anyway.

Might not even bother with a second controller yet anyway. The current gf wants to play racing games on it, but I'm sure she'll be as happy playing solo as she will against me, and it's the ONLY game she'd play anyway. Not worth the extra 20!

I'm not being funny or anything but my thoughts are that anyone with 200+ feedback on eBay is not going to be taking the piss.

Just my personal, however I will echo what's already been said about spending over 20 or so on eBay. I wouldn't go over 50 myself. You just never know.

Well you've paid now, you might as well see if she send it. If she doesn't send the Xbox, she wasn't going to return your money either.
I don't care, I'm not feeling happy about it all. Exact same item going on the very next day? Something fishy. She does have excellent feedback though, and I was admittedly hasty giving her negative feedback.

I'm going to get a refund (apparently).

Their negative feedback on you is hilarious! A whole list of "great ebayer" stlyle compliments and then the solo negative being "Complainer, don't bother with".

    Made me laugh anyway. :)

She also seems to collect 140 Ernest Jones vouchers...
    1
    2
    3
    And soon to be 4
Even if you trust her to send the stuff out as promised, I'm not sure you could trust where she got it from in the first place...

She must be quite the lady, from what she's has recently purchased...

She is going to make a refund but reckons she's having difficulty with it at her end of PayPal, and asked me to 'Request Refund' at my end so she can approve it.

But PayPal doesn't have a 'Reqest Refund' button, does it? Not at the buyer's end, anyway.

You can request a payment, though (and then you get shafted for the PayPal percentage IIRC)...

She just got her 'friend' to send me part of the money, and said she'll send the rest later when she works out how. Thing is, the remainder she said she would send is 20 shy...

Plus, I was getting stiffed by PayPal for the amount I got sent.

So I refunded it straight back and told the dentist to work out how to refund me from her own account, not her friends...
