Where's Wave Racer for the Wii?

Among all the games anounced the glaring omission for me is Wave Racer. It was a cracking launch title for the 64, and although I didn't play it's GC itteration i'm sure it would be a great game on the Wii.

I'd certainly prefer it to that Orchestra game any day.

It'd be great if the wii could splash you in the face while playing it don't you think?

    No it didn't :)

I love Wave Race: Blue Storm and still occasionally whip it out for a quick blast. The water may look a little crap compared to recent games, but it feels just right.

Not sure how they'll carry that accross on the Wii or how the control scheme would work. Maybe you'll hold the Wiimote level and forwards and tilt/twist/move it to do what you want the jet ski to do relative to the camera?

Yeah, it's an omission but I'm in the 'the GC one wasn't that great' camp. The controls felt really generic on the GC and the courses were busy without really having any character. I still play the N64 version but not the GC one.

I asked the same thing the other day. Distinct lack of Wii water sport titles. ;)

Nope, both cracking games. I always thought the Cube one was a bit underrated tbh, thought the controls were bang on. Mind you, it didn't have the genius course design that the original benefitted from, which may well have been the reason most people don't remember it as fondly. A bit lacking in character, too, but then it wasn't a Nintendo in-house title as I remember, which is probably why.

Love it on the N64, but its the only game for the Cube that I ever traded in. Maybe I should give it another go.

I still liked the Blue Storm courses. The canal one was great although bloody hard the first time I got to it, and the hard variant is harder than the expert variant.

There is a cheat code that unlocks the dolphin for practicing levels, and it is great if you use it on the training course as there is a little clump of super wavy water a fair distance outside the main area (you have to go outside the normal boundaries to find it) which is superb fun for just chilling and pulling flips off big waves.
