Wow, massive improvements in Twilight Princess. Thought it didn't look too hot for a while there, but that looks amazing. Especially the other realm. -

Yeah the shots are ugly, but who cares, this might turn out good eventually, I somehow like the design quite a bit. For some reason it reminds me of BG&E, no idea why really.
Yeah, I had the BG&E thing with the third shot with the character sitting on the wall. The open environments and large bodies of water also bring the game to mind. -

Registered 17 years agoElebits is a game of massive scalability. Where at first you can interact with small object until you've gained more elebits/power so you can tackle more and larger object. From flipping over books to juggling houses.
Yeah, it's not just a little bit like the progression system of Katamari Damacy. -

This Zelda is coming out on the Wii. I don’t think it is on the gamecube.

Registered 18 years agoThe developer tries to explain themselves:
Okay guys, here’s the full story. As many of you know, our internal art server went down… [...] Essentially these screens had to be completely made in about 24 hours (the time approx. from server crash to screens being released) because all of the art was gone, save for like Simique or Maron, which everyone has copies of on staff. But we promised you guys screens, and come hell or high water, we were going to get screens to you, even if 4 department heads had to be up a full 24 hour period (as we were), to get them to you, crappy as they are.
It's a fuckong crap excuse. Much better to tell everyone that the server went down and then you'll get the screenies out asap then release crap like this.
And as for Elebits, I saw this trailer the other day and like the feel of the game even if it doesn't show much in the way of gameplay. -

lol!
Yeah, better not to do screens at all if that were really the case. Art server went down, hehehe. Wonder if it's true -

I'd be much more inclined to believe him if he admits that they're crap... oh wat, he does!
Okay guys, here’s the full story. As many of you know, our internal art server went down… not a huge deal, as all the artists have backups of their work. Unfortunately this is a holiday weekend, and many staff went on trips to go back home to families. Essentially these screens had to be completely made in about 24 hours (the time approx. from server crash to screens being released) because all of the art was gone, save for like Simique or Maron, which everyone has copies of on staff. But we promised you guys screens, and come hell or high water, we were going to get screens to you, even if 4 department heads had to be up a full 24 hour period (as we were), to get them to you, crappy as they are.
Now, the trees, look like crap and don’t fit, because they aren’t ours. They are from a content pack sold on garage games we happened to have, and didn’t have time to get our own trees back, same goes for the grass.
Now, there was some art direction here in the planning. It’s night time because we were going to have the torches along paths in the temple area, with a particle effect and everything. Didn’t pan out, as the torches we’re sent to me about 2 hours before the screens went up, and even then, they had to be redone slightly because the exporter kept crapping out and giving us corrupted torches.
I could include a few more examples, but really eveything about this screens, well, sucks, because of very poor timing. Many of the artists are now back home, and have ben sending us the files that were lost in the server crash (we didn’t lose the server or the data, its just still down). Next week we will have this whole place done visually, and believe me, it will look much better.”
At least commend them for actually delivering the goods, no matter how damaged they were. They could have easily held off presenting the screens until they were good enough to garner praise, but instead decided to do what I would call the more courageous act and simply give us what we wanted, no matter how bad it was to be for them.

It's stupid thing to do. The game now has a negative vibe around it which it didn't have before and you've put off potential players by releasing crap like this.
If they hadn't made the deadline then the very worst that would have happenend is that a few fanboys would've said "Where are they?" and been ignored. Now the developer has to work doubly hard to just get back to the point they were before they released the screenshots.

Registered 20 years agoCompletely agreee with Pac-man. No screenshots and a "our server died" should have been what they did. Everyone would have belived them and not worried.
The botched screenshots make it look like the server story is just a cover excuse for the fact the game looks like a turd. -

Yes, it's early as in "1999 Early PC version".
Well the screens all say "Early PC version" and they're only on some strange fansite so maybe they aren't really released?
Awful. I've seen homebrew games with better graphics. Hell, just take a look at kkrieger - and that's only 96KB!
