EDIT: Ah, well - how would *you* measure the public health-system, then?
The system they use works fine because its completly irrelevent, you dont really get much choice of what public system you get to use.
I pointed out there is a diference of a free system and a pay system, a lot of things in the public system could not be free (cosmetic surgery for example that may or not be free depending on circustances) and many of the state in order to relive itself from actually creating something that works rather offload it to the private sector and just pay the bill later (as in WE pay the bill since goverments tend to "forget" about payments leading to a whole mess that just escales the prices of both the private and public health in order to cover for goverment debts).
Communist public health system is free and goverment run, unlike the mix bag we end up getting in "democracy" goverments that might be look better in paper but in pratice its worst for everyone involved. -

And do you not think that a free mind is better then "free" health (to believe communist health systems do not cost the poor suckers anything is willful ignorance of a kind that can only be learned)? -

Perhaps I sould point out that many people from Africa makes the dangerous crossing of the strait to get into Spain.
How many communist countries are in Africa now?
How about the recent "democratic" western nations ... white slavery anyone?
Besides were you think the Cubans were heading to ... Mexico is a quite bit south and Canada is rather far North.
And better not talk about Cuba that due to American "protection" jump from one regime from another ... heck at least Castro made the damn place stable enough for people NOT getting shoot up in a revolution that would happen ever six months. -

A communist country has never won the world cup whereas several countries run by dodgy governments and military juntas have done rather well. I therefore conclude that whilst I have socialist leanings we should all vote the BNP in just for one term of office in time for the next world cup.
England did won in '66 ... sure the result was rigged but then again I think most results were rigged anyway.
Anyone remenber that joke that was the US World Cup ... it was clear as daylight the results were rigged so the final was Brazil vs Italy. -

Sweden but because Sweden is european (even if barely).
I would not mind living in Japan because I have a thing for japanese women and you cannot get a better case of lack of goverment (a lot thanks to the USA involvement) so I guess the country runs relative well since the politicans usually dont get the chance to fuck it up (even if the current prime minster almost fucked up their national mail service). -

I am Portuguese.
Remenber Portugal results in '66 ... 3rd place and we did not get in the Final because we gone against England in the semi finals.
And honestly I do think the results in the USA world cup were rigged ... seeing it really put me off the world cup. -

The Vietnamese boat people, for example, roamed all around the world. Europeans tended to try to sneak into other European countries. Cubans, yeah, they tend to go the USA. You kinda wonder why they don't try for somewhere closer like Haiti, especialy as the US is no doubt the subject of a fair amount of negative government propoganda.
Anyway, how many ex-communist countires are there in Africa? Not all that many, but more then there are succesful democracies with a healthy capitalist system. Most of those Africans trying to get to Spain come from the western part of the continent, where the number of failed states, soem ex-communist, is legion.
WTF does white slavery have to do with the topic? And why only whites, (who tend to be for the sex trade and almost exclusively come from...)
And as Furbs says, it is indeed rather hard to forment revolution when there are so many spaces in the secret police jails and government control over infrastructure is total.
As soon as that twat Castro pops his clogs you can bet your bottom ruble that Cuba will move towards capitalism, just like China and Vietnam, to name two of many recent conversions.
It's a shame to see crystal meth has made it to Portugal.

Registered 16 years agoAfrica is a mess, due to the cold war were the Soviets and the USA got into a pissing contest in seeing who could get more countries in africa in their side.
That is why so many civil wars existed during the Cold War, financed by the CIA and the KGB ... after the Cold War ended so did the money but the wars continue for diferent reasons and that just shows nobody cared much about the "side", just in being in power. -

Infant mortality
Let us investigate:
(Deaths per 1000 live births)
China - 25.28
Cuba - 6.45
Lao - 87.06
N. Korea - 24,84
Vietnam - 29,88
Turkmenistan - 73.13
England - 5.22
Hmm... That looks rather splendid, donit? I mean, Cuba is *almost* as good as the UK in this area, and the rest of the communist countries are only 5-19 times worse. -

Registered 20 years agoDemocracy works better then communism. Neither system is perfect, but due to the nature of human beings such a perfect system will never exist.
Democracy may not be the best system but it is the best we have come up with so far. It is also a system that would work better if more people got involved in it. It is also a system that can evolve through means other then armed revolt.
And I agree completely that we should be more advanced then we currently are. I believe the prime cause we are not is because people have some strange attraction to hanging on to discredited belief systems, such as religion and communism.

Vietnam - 2.6
Turkmenistan - 1.8

USA - 7,6

Funny how communist countires have the worst records in slaughtering their own people for whacked out ideological experiments and to retain the leadership's grip on power. -

I hope some more deluded souls can carry this discussion on through the day. I feel the EG forums have suffered from a relative paucity of meaty topics being discussed. I just hope someone doesn't go nuclear and get the thread locked.
And money is not the root cause of all evil Lament. WTF do you think paid for your computer and internet connection and all the related gubins that allowed you to make such self-contradictory posts?
Capitalism is, again, not perfect but is, again, the best system we have come up with so far. Mix it and democracy in the back room and you have the potential for misuse and corruption, but not so much as one man having total control over the lives of millions of people who are all living in fear.
In fact, the more capitalism and democracy a country has the less corrupt they tend to be. And the healthier, more educated and advanced the population living within. You can argue against this till yer blue in the face but just like the flat-earthers the simple act of uttering words does not make them fact. -

Had missed that one... You *do* know that money (currency) is the very foundation on which every civilization on Earth is built, right?
We are capable of so much more but money being the deciding factor in everything holds us back from what we are truly capable of.
Great - just checking.
