Was that a praying mantis with wings?

...wait, do they have wings normally?

Some can, i think its only the 'queen' type that do though.. like ants?

Some stick insects also have wings

    All praying mantis have wings

Really nice shots btw - technically clear as a bell.

/goes out looking for creepy crawlies

Whoa, those shots are stunning indeed!

Like yours as well deem, particularly the "aphid on snail" one, and the head-on shot of the beetle
  • Deleted user 28 June 2006 14:15:55
Well, it's great that those shots have boosted the confidence of those little bugs but i'm really not sure this is quite the right place...

My little sis is a rather good photographer - i'll see of i can find a copy of one particularly good shot of a grasshopper she took a little while back. It was published in The Sun a few weeks back for their garden wildlife photography compo - a cropped version of it at least.

If ever you needed inspiration for some character designs in games. Nature is the best place to look. Those are awesome. I love stuff like this!

Like Venus the Flytrap on the Atari ST, which was a pretty nifty platform game considering how old it is.

Great photos, thanks for the link
