Is this normal? The extra tariff I mean, not the Big Mac hating.
I saw it all the time in fast food restaurants in Japan (including McD's) so I suppose it's not surprising to see it here too.

Our ate night Maccie D's is the same price as normal, but fast food places can be a tad unpredictable - just look at their price hikes at motorway service stations.

I'm contemplating going for a 'bigger big mac' meal.

I actually prefer BK by miles but they are dearer.

I fear going to McDonalds in Aberdeen its where the neds gather. No where else apart from outside there. Its like its their patch or something.

Walking down Union Street? Thats cos we're letting you.

is the aberdeen a late night one? my mate once wanted to drive from dundee to aberdeen because he heard the mcdonalds was 24 hour... I felt it was unwise as by the time we got home, we'd be hungry again.

There are a few, the one on Union Street is late night to catch all the drunk students leaving the clubs, that is if their foolish enough to run the gauntlet of neds.

Theres a 24 hour drive through on the North side though.

Mcdonalds doesn't actually own most of its restaurants, they're mostly owned by independents and just use the Mcdonalds brand name and sell Mcdonalds products. The actual owners of independent Mcdonalds can alter the pricing and drop some products if they really want to, which is why those special offer adverts always say in tiny print "at participating outlets" or whatever.

It's one of those big "globalised but isn't really" illusions, the same way Coca Cola doesn't actually make Coke in most countries, they just sell rights to the recipe and logo to whichever local company bids the most amount of money. The local company normally disguises it by using the coca-cola name for their coke bottling plant, for example "coca cola schweppes", but it's still just Schweppes on its own with no direct involvement from Coca Cola.
