Did you ever play WA4? The battle system is pretty much the same as that. I liked WA4. It got a raw deal in some reviews.

Nah. A combination of poor critical reception, random encounters, and my less than joyous experience with WA3 put me off.

Forgive me if your liking WA4 doesn't fill me with the urge to play it; you sat through christ knows how many hours of DQ8, suggesting a high tolerance for shit JRPGs :D

    Pfft!

    /waves hand, dismissively

There are a lot of random encounters, yeah. But it's really not very much like WA3 at all, and the poor critical reception is really more of an indication of poor critics than poor game. ^_^

One big improvement in WA5 is that you can move AND attack in the same turn. You'll be wanting to turn the voices down, though:-)

I would tell you more about it but I'm determined not to start it until I finish Persona 3 and Blue Dragon.

I've been playing Persona 3 for 80 hours and I'm still not finished. If you want to play WA5 sometime this year you might want to shift it up the queue a bit ;-)

    EDIT: clarity

    Bugger!

I was getting slightly put off by how everybody seems to be on floor 100 and something and I'm still around the 30s and 40s;-)

Still I played it practically all day on Sunday and am planning to do the same this week. Such an enjoyable game when you are in the right mood.

Last week the coming week looked all bright and full of hope... And Wild Arms 5 I guess.

This week I'm not so sure. Its looking like a no-show this week. Simply because I would expect the eyepatch miscreants to be distributing the game already if it actually was being released.

    lol!

I wouldn't mind picking this up for the right price. It'll be ages before I get the time to play it, though.

Let us know if it turns up. I've been hearing all sorts of worrying stuff like suppliers not carrying the game so pre-orders at places like GAME can't be filled and nobody even seems to have any idea on a release date anymore.

505 really have outdone themselves this time.

I've ordered one on the off-chance that there's more than one copy for the UK.

nah a reliable seller from ebay actually (they're not selling any more copies at the moment though), contacted me just now saying it was posted today :)

Actually, it seems Wild Arms 5 was released today. You'll just have tremendous difficulty getting hold of a copy. Places like GAME and Gamestation don't seem to have it and perhaps never will but independent stores seem to have had a few copies in.

Their PS2 department likely consists of whatever work experience kid they have in. But only when they're not too busy making the tea and getting the sandwiches.

dammit! I've been waiting for this since November and have had one ordered from HMV for a while. but if only independant sellers have it at the moment... urgh!! >_<

    Damn you 505 Games!

I really wish 505 Games would extend their website a bit and also sell their catalogue directly. More profit for them, and also a way of overcoming the distribution problems that have dogged their PS2 releases in recent years.

Buying anything from them would be pretty nerve-wracking though, going on their past form for competency you would lucky to even get your game delivered to the right Country let alone the correct address.

    LUCKY!!

hm I'm going to have to get this from one of the independant sellers from Play.com huh?
which means I'll have to cancel my order with HMV somehow.

I DO NOT want to miss this game.

Heh! Fascinating story, this. The collector in me wants me to get hold of a copy, even though I have no interest whatsoever in the game. 505 games are looking like a better retirement plan than shares at the moment.

(note to self: buy that PAL version of Ar Tonelico from ebay.it)

60hz included ;), played it for two hours voice actings ok nothing special but i thought it was tolerable, battle system all though turnbased and uses the same hex system as WA4 it works really quite well and fast. Battle/Boss music is great too and the graphics are clean and colourful so its pretty easy on the eyes.

Glad they had an open field to explore in between dungeons/towns since it was pretty non existent in WA4 so it was nice to have it back again :)

Encounter system pretty much the same used in WA4, kill the mini boss in those special spheres (cant remember the names) in temples/dungeons and you get the chance to turn off/on random battles.

Not really much else to say at the moment but im really enjoying what it is, think i'll get back to it now :D
