Crackdown was awesome because it really made you feel like an all-powerful dude against a bunch of weaklings. There are few more exhilerating sensations I've had in video gaming than jumping from underneath to the top of a bridge, landing right in front of an enemy, and then smacking them 20 feet in the air. Just made for some awesome moments.

However, the city itself was a blank pallette that would hopefully be filled in if they were to do a 2nd game. I would like a more dynamic world where new things to do pop up at random and the bosses do more than sit in a corner and wait for your arrival.

It's the only game that's actually properly given me vertigo.

Which is ironic because that's exactly what the game lacked.

I can't. My copy will hate me if I admit things like that, and we have too important a relationship for that to happen.

Ok, well maybe it lacked a bit, however Crackdown remains the only game I got with my 360 that I still own.

Whisper it softly to your Halo 3 box, he will understand.

Aye, I like the game but once the 'story' was done it's a bit nothingy. Up for some co-op with someone, if they want.

I only bought a 360 this summer and one of the first games I bought was Crackdown. I played it for nearly three hours last night and loved every minute.
I agree that you are doing the same thing over and over again but to be honest it really isn't bothering me because its so much fun.
I've tried a few rooftop and vehicle races but they don't interest me that much. They feel like a bit of a add-on to the main game.

    Did you play it?

In the top 5 360 games without a doubt /according to me.

    Had everything GTA4 lacked.

It was like the original GTA games but with superpowers. Awesome. How anyone can say different is beyond me, but then there's people who actually think GTA IV and COD 4 were great games.
  • Deleted user 14 December 2008 11:22:39
I think GTA IV was a great game :( I loved Crackdown though so i'm not totally insane...right? RIGHT?!

Crackdown is an ace game. Far better & fun a game than GTA4 tbh.
  • Deleted user 15 December 2008 02:24:31
It's not a better game, it's more fun in a very short burst. GTA4 is imbued with far more detail and nuance, just it's also pretty boring a lot of the time. In my view.

Yeah playing Crackdown I'm constantly wondering whats missing. It is of course some annoying asshat calling me every half an hour to see if I want spend my free time driving him around town so I can play shitty mini games.
  • Deleted user 15 December 2008 13:14:29
Arf. All I mean is GTA IV is better built and filled all round. Crackdown gives you lots of awesome powers but after the 'story' the game's weaknesses shine through. GTA IV isn't perfect, far from it, but I'd say it's a better overall 'game', in pure technical and design terms.

I found Crackdown more fun, so maybe that makes it the better.

Crackdown also cost like 9 quid to make, while GTAIV's budget could feed the population of Mexico for a decade.

I'm quite surprised by the level of detail in the levels of Crapdown. Whilst hunting hidden orbs I couldn't help but notice how many hidden nooks and grannies there are.

Still, the same goes for GTARSEIV I guess.

Yes. There's five thousand of them, they're invisible and only collectable mid-air and you have to be ablaze from a rocket fired by your partner in co-op. They also make a faint beeping sound within a ten-pixel radius for easier finding. But you do unlock the coolest add-on spoiler for the Agency Car when you've found them all.
