    If I order from Amazon.com (Not .co.uk) will they ship to the UK on all products?

    I don't think they will. I used to try and order DbZ books from them and my order was cancelled every time even though the product was in stock :(

    Not all products. During my quest to get my girlfriend a pink DS bfor Christmas I tried Amazon.com, but they wouldn't ship it overseas. You should be alright with CDs, DVDs and probably games, but perhaps not 'gadgets'.

    It's CDs and books I'm after... Gah, I hope they do.

    They won't ship games (at least, not when I was trying a while ago).
    Books, DVDs and CDs are fine, but I don't think they ship any software/games abroad.

    There's a delivery section on the site, which will tell you. Most Amazon Marketplace Sellers will ship overseas though.

    I've not had any problems with books and DVDs, they've got some issues with games which they'll mention on the product description if it can't be shipped outside NA.

    Beware VAT + customs, though.

    /checks

    The following items can be shipped to destinations outside the U.S.:

    books*
    DVDs
    music
    VHS videos

    *Note: Books that require special handling because they are extremely heavy (for example, multi-volume sets) cannot be shipped outside the U.S. If this is the case, it will be noted on the product detail page.

    While books are zero VAT rated, CDs are not. Just remember that Amazon will declare the full value of a parcel.

    Hmm... it's going to be $29.98 books, and $41.94 in CDs.

    I'm not what p&p they'll charge for standard international shipping... hope I don't get stung for VAT etc.

    What's the worst case cost wise?

    As long as C&E don't apply VAT to the books then you're looking at 17.5% on the CDs and something like 8% import duty on the whole lot as well.

    AFAIK if a package attracts charges from customs for any part of it then the whole package (even zero rated items and postage charges) gets assessed for the charge.

    And the Royal Mail will charge you a £4.50 or so handling fee (unless it's gone up). Courier charges vary.

    Assuming say $10 shipping that's looking at $100 near as damn it.

    Which would be about £60 on the credit card...

    Hmm...

    Any particular reason you can't source the books and CDs within the UK?

    The Dollar is weak but unless it's something you can't get hold of you're probably not going to make much of a saving.

    Shipping will be more than $10 as well I would bet.

    Expedited International Shipping (which is the one you'll want if you're not having it couriered over) is $7.5 plus $3 per CD and $5.5 per book. Might be closer to $25-30 for your shipping.

    Only released in the UK, and one of the CDs has a direct £ = $ conversion on it.

    Gah

    I'll have to see if I can sneak this past the Mrs. ;)

    I wouldn't mind, but $30 of it is for my mate as a gift!

    OK... (Dropping 1 CD)

    2 books - $29.98
    2 CDs - $27.96

    Net = $57.94
    VAT = $10.14
    Import Tax = $4.64
    Shipping = $27.50

    Total is $100.21.

    Assuming my card's rate is about 1.65 (IIRC it is) that's £60.74

    Ouch.

    You didn't include VAT on the shipping, so that's about another $5. :)

    I'd assumed it was alsready included... :(

    Ultimatly it means that I'll be getting it tax free, shipping free and VAT free, if I just swap the $ to £ on the site. :)
