It's a cheap way to get hats. Which is nice. -

Registered 16 years agoMatchmaking on TF2 has never worked for me. Just use the browser and join servers with low player counts. -
I wish MvM had difficulty levels, every time I join a match it's the same thing, try 4 or 5 times to beat the current wave, fail, disconnect through boredom. -

Completed the first one first try, i rejoin another server and we're 10 through already on the last wave -

Registered 13 years agoWent through three maps with Neut & friends last night, started with 4 or 5 and ended with six. It is damn hard, but once you get your team set up it gets quite intuitive. I had a monster of a Pyro last night: 500 flame ammo, +30 move speed, +50-100% damage, extra burn time/damage, bullet resistance...twas awesome.
Giant Scouts are a bit of a sod, lost one round before we even knew it was there. Giant heavies and demos are the worst though...
Well up for more tonight

Registered 13 years agoAnyone about tonight then? -
Yeah it's solid and I don't have a problem with that, I'm just venting a little since I spent real money on a ticket which seems to mean I have to wait at least 10-15 minutes to join a match and then I never seem to be able to finish one. -

Registered 14 years agoSo glen invited me for a match tonight but couldn't play.haunt played in years has it changed all that much or will I be ok jumping straight back in? -
It has changed A LOT. You should still be able to hold your own though, but be prepared to go "wtf" a fair bit. -

Registered 12 years agoPlayed last night with Orpheus and a PUG but was good fun none the less. Didn't try any of the advanced maps but it was a challenge none the less especially if you've got someone not pulling their weight in the group... or too many engineers... or snipers. -

Registered 14 years agoI think Engineer+Heavy+Soilder+Demo+Medic+Scout is the besterest set up other than 6 Engineers. Managed to A+ maps when part of a team like that last night.
Scout is my favourite class for MvM, you can get 400+ health with money pick ups quite easily and the upgraded Scattergun variants are beastly.
Melee Sniper is also fun, Bushwaka + Jarate + Sniper upgrades = awesome. -

Registered 12 years agoWhat's the best class in terms of outright DPS (factoring in reloading etc) before and after upgrades? Soldier, heavy or demo? Spent fair portions of last night walking just in front of a tank, finger on the trigger wanting it to die already... -

Registered 18 years agoI know nothing about TF2, but I'm totally up for this. Is there a decent starter class that'll minimise the burden to my team-mates? -
Be a medic. You'll be valuable and you can hold back while you watch and learn. -
Medic is a good shout. The soldier is probably the easiest to use since they have the least quirks to learn and are a pretty good all rounder. If you want to be helpful to your team then be flexible and check what classes your team already has, too often I see 3+ snipers and 3+ spies with only a couple of conventional fighters which is most of the time a recipe for failure. -
@magicpanda Just tried it and it's rock hard! Good fun though, will be playing a lot more of this this week.
Would be grateful to team up with anyone who fancies it, steam name is mackey610, feel free to friend request me.
Anyone playing this afternoon? Is there a EG server? -

Registered 12 years ago@MikeP There's an in game offline tutorial and game modes vs bots that I tried and are good fun to try out the different classes and get a feel for how they work.
As for Mann vs Machine mode, I just jumped in when I got an invite from Orpheus and he would give useful hints to me during the breaks between rounds. Start with being a heavy since it's very, very simple. -

Nah not spent any cash on tickets, don't see the point - just been finding random public servers. Put MVM in the map type filter and pick any server with less than 6 players = game, though as Cos says you don't always get a smart group.

There's no EG server (that I know of), but I can be about tonight if people fancy teaming up. century_rain on steam for the few who don't already know..gif)
@ Mr Brett - there are difficulty levels. There's a 'normal', and two 'advanced' versions of each of the three maps, though it isn't clear from the server screen which difficulty level is being run. You can vote while a game is running to increase (and presumably decrease) the difficulty, but most of the pub servers I've found have the vote function disabled.
Actually that's the only frustrating bit - I'd prefer to hop into an advanced 1 room straight away as the normal is a bit too easy with a full group of 6. Adv 1 is a proper challenge and I've still not finished a full map, but more due to a sodding server time limit - a lot of servers have 20 mins per map (or so) set in stone, which is fine for normal mode - but in advanced you need a few goes to beat the later levels. Got to 6/7 once and the fucking server changed the map! RAAAAAAAGE.

Yeah I've discovered the difficulty stuff now. I've finished a few maps but it took ages to find one with a decent team through the official method and then I got a 'family business' as a reward -_- -
